Hahaha! Hey I got to try the Kleen strip aircraft stripper the other day, because that timing cover I was talking about earlier... I attempted to paint it and it all peeled when I came back to it the next day. Apparently it was coated with something I was unaware of and brake clean didn't eat it, man was I pissed! The stripper works well though, and the paint even stuck this time around too! I did hit it with 220 grit beforehand too.

I like to save my old ear plugs for plugging tapped holes I don't want to get paint in. You may find this useful or gross. It works for me.

Finally getting some color! Followed the paint directions to a tee, and everything worked out great. Have to figure out how the new brackets will attach, and polish some aluminum, and she'll be close to complete. Name: image.jpg

Figured I’d give everyone a sneak peek. Playing with belt sizes isn’t any fun. On my 4th try finding the right size. Name: 0A1A8058-B69B-4202-9412-C3043720E4F3.jpg

Maybe someone can tell me what to do with the fitting for the heater hose that sits on the front left of the intake. The old extension was too big and ugly to want to re use, but I need something as it hits the intake runner trying to install it. I also have to enlarge the hole on the small alt bracket as it fits the old alt fine, but the holes are slightly off on the 3g. Shouldn’t be a big deal. As for the belts, a 71” was too long, and the 69.5 and 70” were too short. Leaves just one left. The 70” was an off brand though. Maybe that had something to do with it. The 71” just pushed the alt out farther than I liked, maybe that’s just the way it has to be.

I hate mine heater hose fitting too. I just forced it and it bent a little around the end, but I was able to straighten it out. Didn't scratch the intake too bad. But I still don't care for the angle. A 90 degree fitting would work better for me. I'd like to find something better

I was lucky when I went with a serpentine setup. Well sorta lucky. I guessed the right length the FIRST time. Belt went on perfectly. Buuuuut I didn't notice the belt I grabbed was a 5 groove... I needed a 6 lol Looks great by the way.

Wrap a bunch of teflon tape around it's threads so that it ends up clocked more forward.... personally, I would flip that alternator bracket around so that the alternator is down lower... there's no reason for it to be high up in the wind and requiring a longer belt (edit: duh, I guess that can't be easily done, and would require a plate made attached to the cylinder head and down for alternator pivot attachment)... and yeah, get your 50 dollar bill out for the serpentine belt... no playing or guessing required... wrap a string or a measuring tape around all the pullies and grab the belt needed...
