I'm back at it this year. When the car went 10.20 it was open exhaust and as all in as I had.

Over the winter I did a fuel system upgrade, new intake, and swapped turbos.

Testing Friday night it went 10.29@136 in full True Street trim, DOT tire, through the exhaust, and that was on less boost.

I'm racing a 10.50 index class this year so that was likely the last outing running turned up for a while. Will race 10.50 all summer then see what the thing has in the fall.

Those are great numbers! I love seeing the hoops hanging on foxbody Mustangs and Capris! Always a trick to make them hang but keep them low.

I an relatively happy with my suspension now. Still not perfect, but can 60' high 1.30's on a good track, low 1.40's on a sketchy one. Blew the tires off on a pass and still recovered to a 1.51, lol. I could make it wheel stand higher but it slows down. Good compromise for a street car.

You know, i was just looking at a Shelby Omni a few hours before, and had 2.5 four bangers on the brain. Unless i was thinking you had the very, very rare optional 2.5L Ford fox.

Well you can get to 2.5 liters pretty easy with the later Ranger crank. I'm chasing stuff with a 2.3L / Iron Head combo because that interests me, but will likely build something like a 2.5 at some point in the future.

Would be fun to see this type of focus applied to a junkyard boost twin turbo setup on a 6 or V8 car.

Chuckle - Or turbos on a diesel from an Escort or Topaz? Lol.

One of my friends had the crazy idea of a breakaway drivetrain carrier when he was racing. Basically he made his car so he could switch setups simply by unplugging some connectors and dropping the engine/trans/radiator assembly out the bottom with a section of the floor where the pedals, etc, are.. He kept bending the frontend at the K region but I think it was wheel stands, cheap materials, and bad welding.

Have always thought about doing a Mustang setup like that. Drop it all out column, master cyl, and all. Make it so you just bleed the rear brakes and plug in power and fuel. Radical modifications required for sure, but imagine the time savings. No more leaning over a fender to fix a head gasket either. Exhaust just dumps near the headers or turbo exits on race cars. Nothing to deal with there. Stab the driveshaft and reconnect the cross member, etc. quite an engineering feat.
