Thanks @wraithracing for fixing the pics! I was too tired last night to mess with them!

It's amazing to go out there now and look at the wiring. There's at least a 50% reduction in what was underhood. I'll be tuck what is left behind the fenders, but I am not tucking the solenoid or any components. I don't want to take the fenders off just to troubleshoot! I think the harness going across the firewall will be very small and easily hidden under the pinch seam.

I'm thinking more like The Gap Band 'You dropped a bomb on me' or Pink Floyd, "One of these Days" or Talking Heads "Once in a Lifetime" because that's probably how many times I get to do something like this!

    Default Slowly but surely

A little more progress today. I cut a hole and put a snap bushing in it right below the brake booster. I tucked the hood release cable and started moving the wires I am soldering to the fuse box first.

As mentioned by someone else, there's a plugin for Chrome that makes some/most of the pics show up. I got all the way up to after the paint job. I never thought Brown could look good but it does. Great job! Maybe someday my car will get some new paint. If I win the lottery, or my son gets a good job and does it for a birthday present.

A bit more progress when I can fit time in. I ran a 4 gauge cable that will connect to the starter solenoid lug and runs across the core support and to an eyelet that will attach to the power post on the fuse box. I got to use my hydraulic cable crimper and it's badass! When I get the cable tied up and loomed up I'll cut the other end to length and put an eyelet on that end. Things go easier with the right tool for the right job.

Actually I forgot...that cable will go to a 125 amp megafuse then to the solenoid. When I cut that 4 gauge cable I will take the rest and make a new cable to go to the alternator. It will have a 175 ampr megafuse between the alt and battery.

A Dual Sync distributor for the Holley HP EFI. I will still be TBI for now with a distributor, but the dual sync has both a cam sensor and crank sensor in it, so I could go SEFI and coil near plug in the future!!!

I must have lost yall along the way. I'm still doing a bit here and there. I think I am going to clean and paint the fender apron where I am putting the fuse box, satin black. I'll eventually do the entire engine bay, but since I haven't soldered a wire to the fuse box, I figured I would do it now. Today I was cold so I got down a space heater my mother in law had and we stashed in our attic. We keep it about 60 in our house in the winter...which both the wife and I like. But it's damn frigid here (for the south) going down to 14 tonight and 8 tomorrow, so I fired up the heater and in 2 hours it went from 47 to 52 in the garage. I didn't know if was one of those Amish glow or whatever fake electric fireplaces. It set just the right 'mood' for cutting the cable that will feed the fuse box.

I got another piece of the aluminum plate I made the fuse box mount with and made a mount to go under the solenoid and hold the 2 megafuse holders. One for the fuse box and one for the alternator. I popped a couple of rivnuts in the fender and I'm good. I need to make 2 short cables to run from each megafuse to the battery post of the solenoid. I need to make a new alternator harness too.

I also added a pic of my hydraulic terminal crimper. This thing is AWESOME and was pretty cheap on Amazon.
    Now pics!

I'm slowly but surely doing more. I bought a universal MSD mount from Summit and am modifying it to fit under the fuse block. It looks like it's going great until I realized the rubber mounts for the MSD make it stick up too high. SO I had to get on the interwebs and find something a lot shorter. I think I have it licked now. I had to cut down part of the big nice aluminum mount and notch it for the battery cable that comes out by it. I also finished with the 2 mega fuse holders for the alt and the fuse box.

A while back in my hoarding, I ordered 4 LED headlights. They have a DRL bar or maybe could use it for turn signals. But I think I am going to use the DRL in the high beams only. I may look and see what all 4 DRL on looks like, but I think that would be overkill. And these things are bright AF. I can't wait because these people around here evidently never heard that you don't drive in traffic with your brights on. Or if you have a stupid AF stock Silverado on 44's you don't drive around with your 288 LED light bar on the front bumper on all the time. In fact, these seem to be so bright, I might have to spray some of that taillight tint on them to make them tolerable for normal nice drivers.

I'm thinking 2 of these on a swivel mount on my daily driver and those high beam riders will learn a quick lesson in manners. And I can signal the Falcon Heavy if they lose radio communication on the way to the moon!

Also for like $30 that Summit MSD mount is serious! It's very thick aluminum, so it's very strong, but it was easy to cut with a cut off wheel on my mini grinder. I found some low profile rubber isolators on Amazon so I think it will turn out very good.

If you look at the close up of my fenders on each side, you see they are coated in 32 years of gunk. I have a Harbor Freight steam cleaner. I wonder if that would work to get some of that crap off?

So I watched a boat load of Roadkill Garage videos today after church and felt motivated to do something. So I got high as a kite! Not with drugs, but with Acetone and Reducer. I thought before I mount all my stuff and start soldering 5000000 wires together, I would clean the fender aprons and paint them black. It took about an hour but I got the drivers side done. My thought is to paint black both sides from the back of the header panel to the shock tower. Then when I swap engines, do the whole thing. BUT, the damn thing is so clean now, I hate to paint it. If my hood wasn't freaking PURPLE, I could just go for the beater/patina look. I imagine I will still paint the underhood black. But not today! Look up above for the before nastiness.

Look at all of those holes. HOLY crap batman!Name: IMG_20180325_202443.jpg

Primed and painted. Look at me go! So much progress in 2 days!

Of course, stupid me thought he got a great deal on 6 cans of RustOleum semi gloss black on Amazon. I break them out tonight and they are gloss and YESTERDAY was the last day I could return, because, yep, I ordered it wrong. So I spent MORE money ordering semi gloss flat tonight.

Thanks Dave! I'm showing off my spray bomb skills! I'm doing this totall bassakwards. I didn't have semi gloss so now I gotta wait on that to come in and I only did the drivers side...I was thinking, I'll do it so I can start soldering my fuse block in. Then I thought, damn I need to do the other side. Well, since I have to wait on the semi gloss clear, I guess tomorrow I'll start on the driver side.

I cleaned on the passenger side some today. I got a lot done. It was nasty, but it's getting there. I also had some nyloks come in so I could put the MSD on the bracket. Which at that point I have realized I can't mount the mount with the MSD on it and I can't mount the plate and then mount the MSD because there's no room to put the screws in from the bottom. Ok, put bolts in the rivnuts from the fender and cut them exactly to length and put nuts on. That SHOULD work. My megafuse holder mount turned out pretty well, I think. I'm getting a lot closer to soldering a bunch of wires!
