Default Mercury Lynx RS seat question

Hi folks, I bought these seat the other day, and was told they came out of a Ford EXP GT. He had them in an El Camino for years. I am trying to find a back seat, but the only photo I can find on line with this fabric combo says it is a Mercury Lynx RS Turbo seat option. And I can only find one factory photo of these seats, period, for all the- escort GT, EXP, Mustang, Capri, Lynx, Escort GT- searching I do, lol,

From what I've read these seats should be 83 specific because of the netted halos and no knee bolsters. I know they used this sport seat in many fabric combos for a lot of years, (other than the headrest). I come from the land of Datsun, so I don't know much about the deep history of Ford interior.

SO I am wondering if the Guru's here have seen these seats, with this fabric combo, in any other car? Or can confirm this is only from an 83 Lynx RS Turbo?

I recently bought a pair of those myself and couldn't figure out what they're from. I thought a Capri but couldn't confirm that.

Thanks for the reply. Quite a mystery. If you are curious here is the article with the only photo I can source of these seats, mentioning they are from an '83 Lynx Turbo.

As I keep hunting, if this fabric is darker than the photos show, this looks like it could be a match. But in a 1985 Escort GT this time.

I used to use two door escorts seats to fix my fox seat lean problems. The basic of the seat will bolt right up.

I have 89 escort GT seats in my CC capri now. Except for the fabric and the net in the halos looks the same. Had to swap the tracks and drill & tap one hole.

Also I caught a episode of top gear that showed a audi with the same seats. They where goofing on them cause the halo wouldnt let the seat fold forward enough to get in the back seat.

Your research gives me some help. I've been trying to figure out what to give a upholstery supplier a place to start looking for new/NOS material. If I can find the material, I'll have mine reupholstered and have a back seat for my Capri done to match.

could you have your back seat upholstered to match those? Do you have a back seat for the Datsun? I wouldn't think that the Escort/Lynx rear seat would work since it folds down.

    Here's pics of mine.

The fact that yours has Netted Halow makes me think mine had them from the factory too, but my understanding is that these seats only had these netted Halos in 1983. Which makes the headrests more valuable than the rest of the seat, lol. Just last night I was searching the internet for fabric swatches, lol. Didn't find a match. If you do please post it. The Datsun has a back seat, but the car is pretty narrow, so often folks can cut down other seats and get then in there. It would be a risk for sure.

It is nice to see that there are so many new foam and upholestry options for these seats, if someone wanted to change.

Oh man I understand that. These are TALL seats! Thankfully I can drill 4 holes in the bottom frame and mount stock Datsun sliders right to the seat, to get it as low as possible without drilling my car body. If I had to run tubular adapters, I'd be getting nosebleeds! (And the back seat passengers would see nothing if not in the middle.)
