Default Thirteen Four-Eye Saleens Together @ SCOA Saleen Nationals!

From last weekend in Akron, OH at Summit Racing HQ. An awesome site to say the least!! All total there were ~35 Fox Saleens and another ~50 Saleens of the SN-95, New Edge, S-197 generation....and even a S-550 Saleen. Oh and I can't forget a Ranger, an Exploder and a S-331. Great weekend for sure.

There are a few 1 of 1's going on in these pics. Only one in Dk Slate, only one Convertible in Jalapeno built from a GT with GT graphics, and only one Saleen factory super-charged in 1985.

Wow! That is impressive. Looks to be a great show, thanks for posting photos. I would love to see some engine shots of the supercharged 85 if you took any.

Looks like a fantastic time. Thanks for posting those. Does the Saleen club of America not allow any Challenger or Camaros? Seems oddly all Ford for a "of America" club.
Also, I would like to see some pictures of the Ranger at least if you have any. Thanks again!

Jason, thanks for posting these. I hadn't heard about the supercharged 85 so I had to do a little research and found the following FEP thread. Looks like half of the surviving four eyes are in IN?

    http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...Saleen-Mustang

Does anyone know if the supercharger was "smog legal"? I think tuners would sometimes do this kind of stuff without any smog testing or certification and it flew under the radar because it was a "custom, factory" car. Just wondering since I like the idea of a supercharged carbed engine, but looks like you have to sacrifice the A/C compressor.

I'll get the trucks up later as well. I did post it but apparently it cuts off at 5 pics per post. And YES....ANY Saleen vehicle is welcome. We have had three S-7's in recent years, and we had a Camaro in the field last year. Oddly, they built more Challengers than Camaros but have not had one show up yet.

FYI...these National shows are open to ALL Ford powered vehicles. Last year in Birmingham we had a great turnout of ~8 SVO's and ~75 total "other" Mustangs.

And here is the Paxton 1985 #21 Same blower used in the early Shelby days as I understand it. The owner (Stu Akers) was good friends with Steve & Joyce Yates of SAAC fame, who owned the 1966 Prototype Paxton GT-350 in dk. green. Quite a car that fetched big $$ after they passed. I believe it is in a Shelby Museum out west. Couple of unique cars to have resided ~30 miles apart and appear at the Shelby Spring Fling together several times!

Thanks for posting the blower photos. Yeah it looks like a SN 60 blower from the 60's with a different mounting bracket.

I remember back in 1995 a member of our club bought the first S351 1994 Saleen I had ever laid eyes on. I bet if he ever met Steve he would punch him, LOL. He had sooooo many problems with that car. It never ran right from the day it left the showroom. Saleen finally agreed to have it shipped back to CA at their expense and had a trucking company come get it. They had it months and I never saw the owner again, I think he started driving Camrys. He hated that car with a passion. It never idled, would die randomly at low speeds etc. It was just abysmal. It probably ended up getting settled in court.
I love me some Saleens though. Any kind of small tuner like that (especially 20+ years ago) is going to have issues.

Thanks for posting the cool blower pics! There was one 83 Dominator that had that same blower put on it. They used it at the track as a demonstrator. Supercharger was removed before the car was sold. Still trying to track that car down.

Sadly I wanted to go but it just didn't work out or there would have been one more '85 there.

Makes me want a 4 eyed Saleen even more now. Couple of guys from the Toronto area went down for this show and got photos with Mr. Steve Saleen himself. How cool is that . Thanks for posting Jason. You must know Matt from up here...

Absolutely! Matt and his dad are great peeps. We partied with them here in Brown County Indiana at the Shelby Spring Fling back around ~2012 or so when they came down for the weekend.
