I got the IP painted today. I'm going to take about a week off from it now before I consider the frame and grounds and all. I'm a little worn out with the panel.
Tomorrow I'll go back to the yard to swap out the driver's side top and remove the airbox from my car. I'm going to work on those for a little bit. The IP took a bit out of me. So progress will involve painting the tops and rebuilding them with their new seals and then the disinfection of the airbox. I have a new heater core and ac evaporator to install plus a new set of seals for the box.
That dash shell turned out great Dave. A lot of work for sure, most would have just trashed it....
That dash is AWESOME! Maybe you should consider a career in this.....haha.

Did you ever think about using high build primer and sanding the dash down to make it smooth instead of textured?
Actually, i did that after i fixed the visible cracks. The whole thing was primered and sanded smooth. I like the textured look though, it's not original, but it looks better in person than the photos show. Besides, I've done all of the rest of the interior like that, too late to change themes now.
I made it back to the yard today and swapped out the chipped top for a good one. Now I can finish them and start using some of those new parts I bought! (seals)
I also pulled the heater box and the ducting to clean up and put the new heater core, ac condenser and seals in it. First I'm going to disinfect that bad boy. No more mold and rat sht smell! Yay! BTW, the heater box is a breeze to pull out with the instrument panel out of the way....who would've thought?
Anyhow, here's today's stuff plucked and ready to be loaded in my truck.
Got the heater box tore down. It really wasn't bad. Of course it has sticky old antifreeze in it and a bunch of leaves, but not a single rat turd. Gonna start washing it now.
Ok, ok, so maybe I shouldn't be doing what I'm doing right now....
To start, I wash one of the pieces of the heater box in the sink using hot water and dawn dish soap. This is the part the heater core sets on.
Now.....the next part is really ok, especially since my wife is already in bed. It's in our electric dishwasher going through a sanitize cycle! It'll be done before my wife is ever awake in the morning and unless specifically prohibited, it's allowed.
My wife never said, "don't stick that heater box in our dishwasher". So I'm good, right?
Mamma ain't gonna be happy if she checks this thread...
Is your couch comfy? Heater in the doghouse? Can you say; access denied? lol

Omg - I am laughing my A off. I just about spit out my drink when I read that. Thanks for sharing!
I wouldn't admit to curing paint in my wife's oven either..

Y'all are bad influences. This is the second box I have seen being cleaned in the kitchen in the past couple days. Sticking it in the dishwasher is a new one to me though. Sounds like a brilliant plan!
Now to figure out how to get the wife out of the house so I can attempt something like this. She would kill me in a brutally grotesque manner if she ever found out....

I'm not going to say anything Brock.
Btw, it worked pretty good. Absolutely no scent to the part now. I still had to wipe in some of the nooks and crannies to finish it off. I'll try to get a before and after shot of this piece.

See what you did Dave? You turned this thread into a confessional.

My Dad use to bring his 56 Panhead in the house to wax it. I thought that was bad enough.
