Default If you could only have one....

So...started thinking about if I could only have ONE collector car to enjoy what would it be? Not a daily driver but more of a weekend show car/driver that is not hidden (garage queen) to be enjoyed by all....kinda like your "holly grail" car. For my self this would be a difficult change as I have always has several "collectable or project car" never fewer than 3. So what I would like to know what yours would be and more details/options/etc...the better and as to why this would be THE CAR. A runner up would also, but keep the list at that.

So...here is mine, 1969 Plymouth Barracuda 383-S, fastback, 4-speed, sun fire yellow, call out sport strips, yellow deluxe bucket seat interior, tach, am/fm radio, W26 sport wheels-the recall ones. This would be one of 607...383-S fastbacks and one of 331 4-speed cars of that year. This is what I would call my "holly grail" car. This is the car my grand mother bought new and my uncle drove in high school, and was the first car I started to modify when it was about 3 months old ant the age of 4. I got caught smashing out all the lights and was going after the windows when she got me...wanting to know what I was doing? "making a race car just like uncle Richard" I don't rember the aftermath of that one, most likely a good thing.
My second runner up would be a Raven Black BOSS 429...as this is the first Boss 9 I saw when I was a kid, later became friends with the owners son...

Here is what she looked like when new...file photo, but was delivered with steel wheels and full hub caps as per "recall' fender tag called for W26 option-cast aluminum wheels. We or should I say my uncle still have her, tore down in the early 80's for restoration, now missing some of its "one year only" parts and have been trying to get some progress going with him but he stuck on building it to how he would have liked back in the day, hopefuly soon I will be able to help him get her put back togeather so we all can enjoy her...Nana called it "Betsey"

I honestly don't know if I could decide on JUST ONE! There are so many cool cars that I want to own . . . .

I guess for the sake of argument I would pick the 1969 Mustang Boss 429 as my number one . . . This week!

Although a 1969 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air IV is a very very close second just due to being the first year model for the T/A and the fact there were only 697 produced!

I've been wanting a Panel since I was a kid. Any Ford between 1951 and 1956 would do. Especially now that Art Morrison or Schwartz Performance is making chassis for them. Throw that under the truck then have either a Kaase Boss9 stroker or Roush big block under the hood.

A close runner up would be a 70s Aussie Falcon. Either a Mad Max replica or XC Cobra.

I always find this sort of thing to hinge on IF I AM PAYING FOR that dream car. It's one thing to ask what is your dream car? It is something else to ask what is your dream car that you would actually pay for? I mean for instance I would have to have several millions of dollars before I would even think about dropping 200-300k on say a Boss 429 or something similar. The real question should be, if you could dream of having as much money as you wanted, how much money would you want?

    That plus availability.

I would've just listed a McLaren F1. But even if I could afford $12 million for one, good luck finding one for sale.

This, a '56 Meteor, minus the continental kit, with Raven Black where this one's dark blue, and Coral Pink where it's light blue:

If I could only have one car, 1986 cougar stripper model with digital dash and 302. I'd swap in a t-56 and about a 350hp motor, probably 3.73 gears and a 8.8. That would pretty much be it.

This is so hard for a car freak! I often daydream about this myself and from day to day it varies. BUT, it usually always comes back to a Gulfstream Aqua, 428/4spd, 69 Mach 1. Visually, I would consider it the best looking car - EVER!

Make it Meadowlark Yellow and you hit the nail on the head.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

If there is one thing that has remained consistent in my whole life, it's my dream car : a Ferrari 512BB, black with red interior, or dark metallic blue with creme interior.

It's the only Ferrari that really captivates me. But while they were relatively affordable in the past ten years, their price tripled since 2014...a good model costs at least $350,000. Knowing Ferraris of that era now, I would say they're definitely not worth that much.

    This is a hard question!

I would have to say that the top one on my wishlist would be the 69 Charger R/T with the 426 HEMI and 4 speed. Would love to have it pretty much like the below picture and not a General Lee Replica.

The other one would be a Delorean DMC-12. Not very glorious by any means but still a car that I have always wanted.

I could go for a Delorean too as long as it has been modified by Doc Brown and includes a Flux Capacitor!

    Agreed.

I seem to have missed the point of this thread. Allow me to clarify to myself. The point is not if you could only have one, it's if you could only EVER have one.

Well, in that case, despite my love for the Mach, I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth what it would take to get one (Thanks a lot, Barrett-Jackson!). Therefore, I present my far cheaper second and third choice entries.
