Hasn't been a great weekend for me. Wife and both have been battling a head cold/flu thanks to our daughter.

I was able to work out in the garage a bit this weekend, but didn't have a lot of success, although that was a different project. I did have a chance to play with an interior idea I have been kicking around.

Not sure it works as well as I had hoped, but not bad. I might have to try a different size netting.

As they say there's all kinds of stress, psychological stress, mental stress, emotional stress, and, in the case of Dolly Parton, seam stress.

Trey, nice work. Its great to see some innovation.

    Since I don't visit strip clubs I wouldn't know!

But yes they are fishnet stockings. Had to give it a shot to see how it looks. As I said, not bad, but maybe not exactly what I was hoping for.

Not much to update at this point.

I am working out of town right now and have been for the past month plus. I won't finish here until about the middle of April. Not sure when I will be home at this point and able to get anything done on the 82. Hopefully soon.

Well it's hard to believe that it has been over 5 months since I have posted anything worthwhile on my 82 GT! Starting another project and then working out of town has really messed with my time for the 82! I will tell you that I have actually been working on a few different things for the car over the last couple of months, but not quite ready to post everything up just yet!

I will say that I have now finished with Graduation for my middle daughter, my eldest is home from college for the summer and my youngest has her last day of 6th grade tomorrow so LET THE SUMMER BEGIN!

I hope to have some time this weekend to work on my 82 in between my Road Racer project, but thought it was time to at least tease a bit with some of the stuff I have been working on.

First I have to fit a Hydroboost setup into the GT due to the 5.4 Mod motor. Thanks to help from Jack Hidley of Maximum Motorsports, I have finally sorted out my parts and what else I need to get to make it all work.

Here is my booster unit that I bought many years ago under the impression it was a 96-98 Cobra unit . . . It's NOT! But it will still fit the bill!

Size: 118.5 KB

    Name: IMG_4360.jpg
Views: 361
Size: 117.8 KB

Now I have to remove the mounting plate on the booster so I can modify it in order to move the booster center line up to line up with the brake pedal. In order to do that you have to remove the clip and the nut, but of course the nut requires a unique tool. Well luckily Factory Five offers such a tool and at a much cheaper cost than Kent Moore, Snap On, etc.

    Name: IMG_4362.jpg
Views: 363

Now I decided I need to make the fitting and modification as easy and simple on me as possible so I grab a standard style vacuum booster.

Then I sacrificed the Fox booster to the Modular Gods as a piece offering to help make this modification go easier!

    Name: IMG_4364.jpg

Now I have this to make the measurements, fitting, and measurements a bit easier and hopefully more accurate!

    Name: IMG_4367.jpg
Views: 359
Size: 128.9 KB

Thanks again to Jack Hidley for taking the time to deal with all my PM's and answer all my dumb questions! I will need to move the centerline of the Hydroboost unit up on the firewall by 0.491" and then mate the booster up to a brake pedal from a 96-98 GT mounted in the OEM Fox pedal box.

Unfortunately I do not have a drill press at this time, so . . . I decided an early Father's day gift was in order and I ordered this!

This will make drill my new mounting holes much easier, more accurate, and hopefully without the metal plate spinning out of control and trying to take my fingers off! Hopefully it will be here by this weekend otherwise it will be Tuesday of next week! I can't WAIT!

Sorry didn't mean to cut short a good nap for so little to see! I'm getting there, just not as quickly as I would like right now! I have the same issue you do right now of splitting time between two projects although I haven't posted anything on my Road Racer project as of yet!

Well, maybe Jessica Alba has had some luck, but I haven't done much with my Stripper Neon Green fishnets . . . YET!

I have been too busy with other things! I have been working on some cool door panel modifications/customizations that I will showcase at a later date!

Got it all assembled and test fired! Now I need to pick up some steel to fabricate the mount for it to attach to my frame table for solid mounting! Hopefully I can snag all of that today and get that fabbed up this weekend and start drilling!

Some MM stuff finally arrived too! But those are for a different project!

Am I the only one here that thinks it just odd that with everything you have done and all the tools you have, you haven't had a drill press till now?

It's a wonder you still have your fingers drilling things the sketchy way.

Looks great and should get used a ton. NOW GET TO WORK as we want pic updates of the car....not new shiny tools!

Just remember a drill press can be a milling machine too if you have the right cutting bits and move the pieces yourself.

I wonder who was the person that made the red finger guard a mandatory item?

The same person that lost a finger using a drill press as a milling machine.

Honestly I can't believe that I have taken this long either! It has been on the list since I moved to the new house, but seems that something else always came first. Heck I still haven't picked up a Vise yet either! Maybe this weekend! But don't worry I have the scars on my hands and fingers to tell the story of not owning a drill press!

I will work on the updates for you! I need to get this car done and out of the way, so I can fix some other stuff!

Funny you should ask, as that was added to the drill press by the manufacturer since the instructions were last printed and they just included a separate sheet for the install. I almost left it off, but it flips up and out of the way, I will see how it works and if it is too much of a pain or hindrance, the it will be filed away in the circular file cabinet!

Excited for some more updates!!! I check back on this at least once a month since I can't work on mine at the moment. Next time you're in Fort Collins let me know and maybe you can check mine out. Although it does look a bit better in the pictures I choose to post haha.

The little shroud is fun to flip out of the way..

My wife bought me ime, and I'm happy with it for sure, but...

Drill presses stop you using your skill and co-ordination, and many times, you can get by without them. Not for adaptors and stuff, but for sensors, and non standard fitments a dilligent car modder does, not always needed.

I trust hand eye co-ordination, although it nearly made me loose my finger in a wood splitter

Well due to my A.D.D., inability to just focus on one thing at a time, and funding I continue to jump all around at this time on my GT.

I have made some progress on my tail light housing and those modifications, but I am not ready to post that up just yet! Yeah! I am a teaser!

I still need to wrap up my hydro boost modification and install. That has required sourcing the correct pedal for my booster unit 96-98 GT which I have done. Now I have to install that into the Fox pedal box. Of course it's not quite a bolt in deal.

Hmm going to have to modify! Luckily for me, I seem to crave this stuff!

Fox brake pedal next to the 96-98 GT brake pedal! Lucy!!!! You got some cutting to do!!!!

Now that's Better! I chose to match the Fox pedal in regards to the side to side spacing. There was no consensus that I could find on the internet as some made the cuts the same as mine, others cut the left side of the bracket and moved the pedal further to the left, etc. For me this should provide a bit more spacing between the clutch pedal and the brake pedal, but also move the brake pedal a bit closer to the throttle for better heal and toe if I desire.

If you haven't noticed in the picture above we have another problem! The booster pin is on the opposite side of the pedal! Yeah that doesn't work too well either. So out comes the trusty old grinder and a nice flapper disc and now we have this!

Once I am done with all my test fitting and double checking, I will weld the pin back into the arm in the new position.

A quick test fit of the hyroboost setup in the car looks like this!

I still need to finish drilling the new holes for the hydroboost to bolt up correctly to the Fox firewall and pedal assembly. At this point after reading other's trials and tribulations on the internet about the swap, I have decided that I need to test fit the unit with my engine in place as others have had clearance issues between the hydroboost, the valve cover, and the wiper motor. So now I have jumped my focus once again too . . . . . . .
