Default Fox Body Mustang Write Up From Hagerty

Interesting article from Hagerty Insurance on fox body Mustangs.

Interesting and nice to get some fox body love, but they pretty much ignored the 79-81 models. I understand the less-than-impressive performance numbers of the years, but 1979 was a HUGE year for Ford, considering it was what basically saved the Mustang line and started a new revolution in performance and styling. The 79 Cobra and Pace Car should be of particular interest to Hagerty, as they are still providing some entry-level collectables for car enthusiasts, which will only go up in value over the next decade.

The 79 to 81's were the most attractive, but except for the 74-78's, the most under engined Mustangs ever. For many years it was looks and options that sold the early Foxes big time.

And since the Fox was 100% high volume mass produced, the dynamic, dimensional, gymnastic and track variance betwwen a good and bad 2-bbl, 4-bbl or EFI is HUGE. Any old undetailed, unprepared 1987 225 hp EFI could be even slower than a good 1982 HO or 4bbl.

Nice!! I have thought for a long time that the Fox Mustang was the "Deuce" of the 80's.
