    Default radio test

    Hello, all:

Just returned from Carlisle and scored a factory 86 premium radio in good shape. But I need to test it. The one in my 86 is great except for the tape deck. I'd like to check the recent purchase and am not real experienced with this sort of thing. Can I hook up a 12V source to test the deck? I have the wiring diagrams and the troubleshooting guide but don't want to fry it. Looks straight forward but I can always use good advice.
    Thanks!

Yes...12v battery for a simple test. I believe on these radios the yellow lead is 12v+ and there should be a black wire for ground. If you have the diagram then verify. All the other color wires are for speakers. If you get it to power up, then you should be able to pop in a tape to confirm it works. You could easily hook up a speaker too to fully test.
