Last year I found a vintage Sanyo AM/FM radio cassette and installed it this past winter. I wanted to get the CD player out because it just didn't look right. While the cassette player worked good on the Sanyo, the analog tuning on the radio wasn't great. I couldn't travel more than a couple of miles without having the signal drift and constantly having to adjust the tuning knob. So much for period correct technology. Then I found this radio on eBay. The Panasonic Supreme series with Ambience, CQ-S900EU. I wanted digital tuning, yet still keep the period correctness. After doing some research, I found that this radio was cutting edge back in 1982 and sold for $400.00. I installed it yesterday and all I can say is this thing is fantastic. The tuning on this is superior to the radio in my 2006 Ranger and my wife's car. The ambience is a surround sound field that is far superior to anything in a radio that I've owned lately. The cassette player works flawlessly. Needless to say, I'm happy.
