Default Pace Car reunion at Indy 500 museum

Here are some pictures of my Pace car and others at the Pace car reunion at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Pace cars of all years and makes were in attendance, oldest was a 1915!
We had some rain friday night but the rest of the weekend was great.
The highlight was a lap on the track, it was awesome!

    Very cool.
Driving a famous race track is a lifetime memory even for non-car people.

May be the current record of TRX tires holding air at one event.

One car may even had the oem twin tip tailpipes. I always look for that on all years that had them.
Mustang Pace Cars are one of the few versions owners consistently keep preserved and factory stock.

See any 1984 Indy Fieros there with the wild snorkel engine air scoop?

One of the 79 Pace Cars only had 3 miles on it ( I don't think he did the track lap) and another one had a whole 76 miles on it before the track lap.

And yes there was a Fiero with the snorkel air scope.

There may have been one turbo car. The guy next to me had the 3.6 mile car. He also had an 11k mile Indy truck, AND a 49k mile Indy wrecker. I believe they only did four wreckers, so that's a rare piece indeed. The 3.6 mile car had sat in a showroom for decades, and the buyer got not only probably the lowest mile PC in existence, but a whole bunch of other neat stuff. Dealer showroom launch materials, even a billboard!

Sandy Blaisdell's PC was there. For a 80 mile car, you wouldn't think it needed much, but Sandy has brought that car to a level I never thought was possible. I've seen some excellent low mile PC's. Daniel Carpenters. Rick Schmidt's of NPD, etc., but Sandy's car was a huge step above those. Just and incredible car. The best in the world IMHO.
