    Default 460 powered 82GT

I've had my GT for around 6 years now. The first few years I enjoyed driving it as a stocker. The engine was getting to the point to where it was needing some attention, and I was having to downsize some of my projects. The main project was my mercury zephyr that I was swapping a 460 into. I decided that everything was going onto the mustang. It took me a season to work the new car bugs out. The 460 has been in for 3 years now, and has been a total blast to drive. Up until now, the 460 has been on the lightly modified side. I managed my best quarter mile pass with a 12.02 @ 110mph with a bad transmission. This past winter, I stepped it up quite a bit. Ford racing SCJ heads, custom grind Lunati cam, victor intake, and a 1050 holley carb. This is still a pump gas engine for now, but future plans are eventually converting to E85.Name: 82 GT.jpg

Thanks guys! The look on peoples faces ( that sure don't sound like a 302 look) when it comes rumbling into a car show or local hangout is priceless...Most of the people on my street hate it because it sets off all of the car alarms when I drive real slow down the street!

I can't believe you can fit a 460 with an air cleaner that tall under what looks to me like a stock hood! I didn't think it was possible. I like the sleeper look of the whole deal. I know it isn't a show car but I even like the black hood scoop instead of body color. Kind of a nice touch. You never see that. Nice ride.

Thanks, It took a lot of work to do this, but I was pleased with being able to keep it under the stock hood. Funny you mention the black scoop...It's just plasti-dipped to hide the ugly faded paint...75% of the cars paint is original...it's a chore keeping it looking good...It's a true 10 footer!

I was able to keep everything under the stock hood and scoop for a few reasons...
    - I made and installed 2" k-member spacers
    - made custom engine mounts
    - made custom set of headers
    - drop base air cleaner
    - the torker2 intake also has a 1" spacer installed
The engine has approximately 2-3" of set back, and sits around 2-3" down in the engine bay. The water pump center line is actually lower than the original 302...It has allowed me to run an 18" engine driven fan...I know that they rob some power, but they're reliable.

    Sounds awesome!

Although breaking in a cam with no cooling would scare the H#LL out of me!
