Default Winner at Imports vs Domestic.

They had an imports vs domestic at Island this Sunday so we went. Allegedly they were running a 8.50, 9.50, 10.50, 11.50 index plus brackets. So I put on the restrictor plate and put in 200lbs of weight to "try" to slow down to 10.50.

Get there and it's 10.00 index.
    Well....sweet, but I now I need changes.

Start out with the some turns in the plate and 85 lbs.

#1 qualifier LOL (at my normal 10.00 index race, this wouldn't even make the field)

So I relax and don't pay attention until they call for eliminations. Took some weight out, made a plate adjustment, consulted with my weather station and figured I'd be really close, which in this group was plenty good.

Get up to the lanes and it's me an my friend Scott in his nasty Road Runner.
    I said "where's the rest?"
the guy said "you 2 are it, everything else in this class broke"
After some laughter, I looked at the sheet and apparently Scott was missing the setup in his 4 speed car...having only ran 10.51 and 10.28 earlier...

So he and I both knew he was in trouble.
So we went up and I was .025 to his .044 and I pretty much peddled him down the track to a 10.19 at 124 to his 10.27 for the win.

Oh well, four eyes in the winners circle look cool. Plus I got $50 and a nice trophy.

Sounds like you were the big fish in a small pond at that race.

Still, a win's a win. Good job. Too bad you had to take out your friend to do it, but as we all know there are no friends for that 1320 ft. Whooping up on friends always makes for the best ball busting.

We're not fast racers, we're more what's known as half fast racers.

    Congratulations!

Reminds me of the time I tested during a UTI Tech day. Half that day was eaten up cleaning up oil dumps from the imports (lol) it didn't speak well of the machines or mechanical prowess of their students
