Lol... I'm fortunate, or maybe unfortunate, to have people send me links all the time. Its crazy some of the cars out there for sale. It's amazing any of us can put food on the table.

I think the seats might be out of a '70s Porsche. Believe the model is a LX or LS. All I know is they work with colors on this Cobra!

Join the club. I went to a car show this past weekend in a town where my family and I are well-known. It seemed that I was stopped a million times by people wanting to sell their cars. Please don't get me wrong -- as I'm grateful -- but holy moly.

That car has been for sale in the last couple of years.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

Hey Travis, hope you're feel as good as you can these days. Do you remember if they car didn't sell previously because of price or are there other issues not detectable in the ad? Looks like the seller has consigned the car to this dealer to sale. Any info you have may help someone on here looking at the car.

Those seats are so ugly they are cool! I would rock a set of those! They would probably cause the wife to go off the deep end as she is weird about obscure styles.

I'm no Recaro expert but here is what I know. Those seats are Orange Gradient or Orange Spectrum (not sure which one is the official moniker), they were optional in mid '80s Porsche, Audi, and VWs (and other European cars). They also sold a ton of them aftermarket. The ones in the Mustang are classic C style aftermarket seats, the ones that came in Porsches were the IdealSeat C with headrest speakers and a switch console and full power adjustment.

Also if those are original not recovered they are worth a pretty penny!

I love this site! PF79, thank you for the info! I was writing from memory late last night... Recaro made the best seats, might still, back in the day!

Cool. But those were not the original seats. I'd be willing to bet they are from a euro/Japan VW. I've got an 80's Carrera and installed vintage Recaros in it. I'm not trying to put down the seats, I love those, but if Recaro did the interior the back seats would also be similar.

I think last time this car was for sale the story was the seats were new aftermarket that were installed when it was very new.

That thing has been for sale forever in Omaha. Perhaps is they weren't dreaming on the price, it would find a new home.

What's the definition of insanity??? Doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different outcome! Sounds like owner should find a nice set of original '79 seats to put in the car and sell the Recaros separately. He'd open up a whole new group of buyers for the seats and most likely make more for them. Guess owner's not in a hurry to sale... or he's insane.

I agree with 4eyes. Those seats are so cool, and could bring $1000+ to the right buyer, depending on condition. You just don't see them very often.

Well there you go... Thanks airplanedriver, I was too mesmerized by the Recaros to pay attention.

Funny thing is we've not discussed the actual car once! It looks like a clean, survivor. Does anyone know what he's asked for the car in the past? Has anyone seen the car in person? Any rust, previous repairs or repaints?

This one is intriguing. To be honest, I'd prefer this car over a PC simply because you'll see less '79 Cobra's look this nice than PCs.

Thanks Brock! I about spit my drink when I opened the dealer link and saw asking price.

Knock off a third of the price and he'd be in the ball park.

Guess I should have warned against taking a drink before opening the link. I about rolled out of my chair when I saw it both times.

I think I have made this observation before:

I have attended a dozen or so MCA shows over the past few years, and I don't ever remember seeing a 79 Cobra. Pace cars, yes, but no Cobras. I think there were one or two at the 50th Birthday show in Charlotte, that's the only ones I have seen in person in many years.
