Default New here - 1985 AscMclaren coupe

    Hi all,

just figured I'd say hi and show off my new ride. It's an 85 coupe with 62k original miles. Not perfect, but a really clean survivor. I picked it up from MI 2 weeks ago. Such cool cars. For now it's purely stock, but will add some performance mods in the future. Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks! And sorry for the sideways pics. It's located in CT and I hope to visit some shows/cruises once it warms up here.

Welcome to the site Foureye! Lots of great info here. Great looking McLaren. My car was once owned by the same person in Michigan.

Oh wow. Cool stuff. Hippy is a good guy. He was nice enough to include a cool 1985 MI Manufacturer plate with it along with other NOS parts. I was lucky to find it. Love your McLaren. I've seen pictures of it.

Thanks man. But you have quite the collection yourself. I think the foxbody will get the respect it deserves in the years to come.

Thank for the compliments on my car. They are really neat cars. I bought my car from the person Hippy sold it to. Hippy sold it in 2009 and I bought it in 2012. The guy I bought it from is really nice as well. I have never met Hippy only talked by email. He does seem nice. He found the original manuals to my car this past fall and sent them to me. Pretty cool. He wouldn't take anything for them or for the shipping. He also sent me some pictures of my car being painted. I really enjoy stuff like that and am thankful he sent them to me.

That was very nice of him. He actually towed the Mclaren to my house himself. So I got to meet him in person and have a beer to celebrate.

Thanks guys. And yes JTurbo I hope to make it to the MU show. I was there a few years ago but didn't have a car to bring. Also I work in the Springfield, MA area so I might see you out on the road.

Thanks Stangman! I agree. It's cool info to look into. The Marti report is well respected. I wasn't sure what it would say for my car, but I'm so happy it confirms the ascMcLaren link. It was around $50 but worth every penny in my mind for resale and confirmation.

Congrats! I looked at that very car and Hippy and I just couldn't make a deal. Great guy--but bit-ness is bit-ness. I started to soften, and poof--it was gone!

Glad it found a great home.

I just scored one of the three '85 Flip Roof Coupes at auction, so everybody wins! No more tears from me.Name: 0505161052.jpg

Okay, that's embarrassing. Several similar posts because I couldn't hold my water.
