    Default '82 Fairmont Sedan Delivery

A friend from NC alerted me this morning about the subject car for sale in my area, print only. So I went to look.

The owner is an interesting guy. He drives a real, ex-USPS 55(?) Plymouth Sedan Delivery to the flea market on Sundays (which I've seen many times). He's built a 1st-gen Valiant pickup, a Pinto pickup, and more.

The car is an '82 2.3/auto w/air. He got it in 2006 from his daughter. It started out as a 4-door sedan, then converted to a 4-door wagon, then 2-door wagon, then sedan delivery (he showed me the pictures). It has some strange features. The picture in the ad is really old; he doesn't do internet.

The "push bars" and the custom grille would have to go.

The interior is good; solid floors, the buckets have fresh upholstery. He put in a decent vinyl headliner and covered the rear upper quarters with black patterned ABS.

Two major sore thumbs: the gaps around the rear hatch are uneven and two:

The trim piece across the top covers the unwelded seam ("I didn't want to warp the roof.")

Obviously, the non-stock trim (from Pintos) would also have to go.

    Interesting in a kitsch way.

Could be a cool beater if it was cheap.

It looks too much like a hearse to me.
A little vinyl on the roof and side panels, with some landau bars and it would be complete.
The concept is interesting though. This coming from someone who's work ride is an HHR panel delivery.

That was my thought as well.
BTW, I think those HHRs are cool -- especially the panel delivery ones.

Funny you say that, thought the same thing. I do love the black interior. I do love the idea of the sedan delivery, should have been built by Ford, would've been a great platform for it. I do like it though, I would buy it and finish correctly and make it look more factory in appearance. Nice though for home grown. A dying art in custom sense.

Yes, HHR is much cooler than the PT Cruiser.
I think I am the only one at work that enjoys driving it though.
The only thing other that being a front driver is the low roof makes it hard to see traffic lights at times.

You take the Wagon back, and put it on the pickup. Or is it the other way around.

    Mike was onto something....

Is that a little cowl hood action on the far wagon?

Seeing this delivery wagon brought back memories. I searched through my old car drawing notebooks from when I was a kid and found this "beauty." Just funny how seeing something can jar a long forgotten memory. Someday maybe I'll build it...

That's cool. Sad to say for me, I was a Z28 kid, never paid much attention to the Fox cars back then. Don't even remember one until my Grandma bought a Future with a 302 brand new. The other was a 83 Gt when I was little older, maybe 16.

It's back. Same owner. Sitting in the same spot. Different paint.
