Wednesday. Location: Employee Car Show, GM Technical Center, Warren MI.
    Picture perfect day.
There were GM engineers, etc, that were actually involved with the pre-production part of the classic GM cars they owned.
Seen the 2020 mid engined Corvette up close. 44 years after the mid engine gull winged door concept 1976 Aerovette.
GM vintage concept cars. Hundreds of cars and only a 4 hour show.
Mostly GM but all makes were there from one year or another.

This car had a cool looking interior seat pattern. Will get pic next time seen.
The car was duplicated to match his now gone first one shown in 1973 display picture.

All one brand car shows like this can be tough to view all day. Another world. Intense visuals, cultures and mindsets.
Especially on corporate property like FWHQ Dearborn MI, GM Tech Center Warren MI, or FCA NA HQ Auburn Hills MI.
Once a year for these is enough for me. Total mood changer. No complaints though. That is why we go.

This show is at ground zero amonst GM car design building, most there for many years.
Somehow many cars of the muscle car era had timeless designs.
Focused domestic competition then, vs generic world cars now.
Premature cost cutting of products, like the 70's GMC motorhome. Which did and would have continued to sell well.

The 77 Can Am production was cut short because the mold for the rear spoiler was damaged.
Mgmt did not approve repair of mold. Same thing happened to the 1972 GTO rear spoiler mold.
Read 1976 Trans Am hood scoops were used in the 77 Can Am. Leftover parts?
Unknown what the distracting spooky black/white stuffed animals on top of those cars meant.

    Another Mercury at show:

A small project I just finished up, painted stripes and a re-clear. I have a 66 Chevelle SS,(in progress), 68 RS/SS, 70 Boss, Torino GT, 66 Chevelle SS, 67 Fairlane GT and a 56 Chevrolet hard top in the waiting room. All cool cars I used to see almost daily but not so much anymore.

That Escort GT is mint! My brother had a 88 GT in high school that he bought for $500. We put in a new motor (2 actually over time), repainted it, and he even took it to a few track events. The rust monster eventually destroyed the inner shock towers and the car was scrapped. Almost all of the Escorts of that vintage have rusted away in Michigan.

That does appear to be in nice condition! I always liked those as well as the EXP. A modified turbo version would be a fun ride.

Oh, here too for sure! I was surprised to see it! I had a '93 Escort GT that I just loved. The only other Escort I can remember seeing of this vintage though was a 5-door at a show I saw last year. The owners certainly knew they had something you don't see every day.

Annual 4 hour Kiwanis Club charity local car show/cruise Wednesday in St Clair Shores MI. Great turnout as usual.
Dancing, bands, dj's, hoola hoop contests, parking lot 'beach', couple all night private parties at local businesses.

Cute little thing! Looks almost like it has a way to put a convertible top on it. Would be scary in heavy traffic though.
