Caught this one in the Safeway parking lot. She belongs to a gentleman that works at the dealer ship in the back ground, saw this car almost everyday last summer, parked same spot. Shopping carts and all!
I couldn't imagine parallel parking that thing.

"I always felt those were SO ugly!? Even for a Mopar!"

IMHO, True...after Mopars 1969-1970 effort, it took just 2 years for a 0.30 drag coefficent car to look great without 23 square feet (2.15 m2) of frontal area. 200 mph required some serious 426 Elephant HP to do what Le Mans GT40's did with less than 500 flywheel horses.

Everything in the 69 and 70 Plymouth and Dodge wind cheaters was elphantile....

The Maserati Bora was the first modern exotic to combine Citroen style 0.30 drga factors with a truly small frontal area. With just 310 hp, these things tipped in a 160 mph. The UGLY us bumpers didn't hurt the areo numbers of the US Bora 4.9

The Ford GT40 just needed needed 325 hp flyweel from its little 289 to break 165 mph, and just under 465 hp from its 305 SBF or 427 FE race engines to break 200 mph.

The little 1900 Opel GT aced the class well before Chrysler tried to make that wind jammer, and could do 135 mph on salt with the NEARLY stock engine.

The Opel GT from 1969 to 1974 aced with a failry poor 0.398 but a 1.64 m2 fromtal area, which was about the same as both the are cd and frontal area for the Ford GT40.

18 square feet of frontal area made both cars little jewels compared to the Mopar.

Mind you, the spolier Fords from Mercury were just as ugly...

IIRC, both cars had the same drag factor, but with significantly less frontal area.

Remember, Drag = Cd x Frontal Area in metres.

    Default earlier today

    wayne mi car cruise/show
I do try to find Fords, but not that many out there that stand out as other brands.
Also for 1980's stock anything. Not easy either.

Start by saying ya aint gonna see these exact cars anymore. This is on the cruise rt.
Storm damage from yesterday. No injuries. Made local TV news:

world's longest 3 piece spoiler side sections- all the way to the doors

    59 cat eye

II w/turbines. Car barked the tires when it hit 2nd gear.

1986 Pontiac GP 2+2 one of 1225 retrofited w/GN turbo engine

T type Regal turbo- single T badge on fender= 1987

Too nice to leave out 1986? 442 (and a hood badge). Not many perf cars had them.

Opal GT no hood scoop- engine???

I liked the little Maserati Merak. Competitor to and so much cooler than the Ferrari Dino. A Doctor that lived near me owned one back in the '70s and he'd let me wash and wax it for him! (I'm a sucker for a sexy car)

Sounded like a Cat or maybe a Cummins. Hard to tell because it was probably a V8 as evidenced by the duals...

It has a woodgrain applique on the lower body, and would really be pretty sharp all cleaned up.

This weekend I saw this real 1980 Mustang McLaren M81 #10. In total there were 7 created in Bittersweet Orange, 1- Black, 1-White, and 2- Enduros. Apparently the world wasn’t ready for a $25,000 hand-built Mustang in 1980. This was the last one built, serial #10. This is also only 2 of the 10 that has all 3 options ( roll bar, A/C, boost controller knob).

Seen today at 2 car shows:
Got to one late- the cars left for the other.

So the 1st car show was over. This guy pulls out, nails it, and loses it.
W31 front end got stuck deep in the soft road shoulder. People pushed him out.
The boys were nearby and gave him a ticket.

Good thing it has the OAI hood, and not under bumper ram air. The front end was in the sand real good.

Black out those white-stripes, or turn 'em around...Sorry. That AMX desperately needs new wheels too.

Drove the McLaren to BestBuy this afternoon and parked deep in the lot, alone except for a Beemer wagon.

    I came out and saw:
