Drove the McLaren to Best Buy and parked alone near an all-by-itself Euro-Sportswagen.

Came out and some guy had parked his old Chevy next to me.

Na, i doubt any car person, young or old, would even think 'so what'.
We would stop and look em over if we had time. Worthy of any car show around here.
Too many are over-modded away from what they really looked and ran like.
Rather have a ride in a stocker than any hot rodded one. Its about the sounds and feel.

Same for that cool 57 DeSoto. Now that is an example of styling. One of the first legal 4eyes.
That boat in the boat yard looks to be in super fine shape.
Would not mind going for a float ride in that one either.
Interior design on those old cars are more interesting than what they make now by far.
Clean, spacey inside. Great safe visibility. Simple push button transmission control.
No paddles, modes, or tricky complicated computer crap and parts to get plain old PNRD.
And i bet you can set the clock for stupid outdated DST in less than 30 minutes.
Would be nothing wrong with updating to disc brakes, etc for safety and more enjoyment.

Also looks like road surfaces are more of a priority than around here.
Bad roads here beat the hell out of nice cars and trucks too.
No matter what they do to cars to make them safer, bad roads are very unsafe.

Always a cool feeling to see other drivers taking time to show mutual respect for classics by intentionally parking like that.

    Default park and ride notes

Have to remember anytime we park our drive able classic antiques, it is at least a one-car show.
Always park regular next to a 'vette or another classic. Near, not in, visible foot traffic areas.
Never park next to a 2nd gen 70-81 Camaro, or the like, with pointy door ends that can ding yours badly.
Or where people will brush ass against your car, like next to a mini van sliding door or a hotter show car.

Staging diagonally in straight in non-show lot border spaces is ok but looks a little vain, especially if a newer hot ride.
Yes it has gotten real hard to back out safely from between two of the all too common tall SUV, UTV, truck.
I will hog space a little further out from the pack, depending how busy the parking lot and location of carts.
To leave a message: keep away, car is not that special, and coming back soon (non-employee of store).
Rather walk a little, parking further out, where one can back in or creep thru spots to face the isle when leaving.

The worst is parking near something that: drags car down visually; stands out too much; is in perilous area.
Fields (low ground clearance, ruts), crowded side street during events (mirror hits from people or bikes).
Trash cans, dumpsters, loading docks, ricers, shopping cart corals, regular newer cars at a show, junky cars, etc.
On windy days, observed loose shopping carts get blown across unlevel parking lots into vehicles pretty hard.
A parked car rolled sideways into my truck's bumper once. Lucky no damage. Rolled pretty far too.

There are also times to 'hide' the car or truck.

On one beautiful summer day trip, stopped for food at a little place i remembered in farm country.
    https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en...jXDFIQoioIbjAK at
At least six old waxed up classic cars and chromed hot rods were parked back in the side lot.
All stopped in for a break too. A car show with no people around.
Had to drive in slow. Is a dusty powder dirt parking lot. Parked in front of building solo.
My daily driver 79 Mustang Cobra was the newest special car there by far.
    -And the worst looking.

I as stopped at a red light earlier when I saw this across the intersection from me. The second pic was snapped as we passed each other after the light went green.

A month ago we had this Amphicar 770 driving in front of us for several kilometers on the lakeside road - at 10 pm... seems like it came straight out of the water somewhere around there ;-)

Sorry I didn't get it all. He was moving at a good pace. And I was not messing with my phone while driving we were at a red light.
