Yes fabric is brand new (NOS). No, it is not for sale seperately.

Wow, jade green and chamois - I really like that combo! Were the body moldings green striped?

Yeah, it is a great color. Not too common (I think). I don't think that the stripes are green. I will take a look though and update.

I'm really hoping this is still around in a month when i get my tax return! Really dig that color combo. Wish it was a 4speed though. Is the nose cone warped/melted a bit where the grill is? Or is that just the faded paint playing tricks on my vision?

The front clip gets "saggy" when it rains. I guess it absorbs moisture and gets soft. When it dries out, it seems fine. Was thinking about getting it good and dry and coating the nose in primer. My plan was to have the entire car repainted (stock color, stock paint) and do an original restoration on it. I have a Capri coming, so I need the space.

I've redone the grill and trim paint on my old 81 and it made a big difference. SEM trim black in a spray can is very close to original. Still have enough to do most of that car actually. I would do a cosmetic resto and some wheels and just drive it. I've got my capri if I want something faster. Good luck with the sale...though I'm hoping I can generate the funds before someone else does.

I was going to keep it completely original, down to the wheels. The tires are brand new. I was looking to get the wheels freshened up, but never got that far. The wheels have grown on me. Not too common and they were a rather pricey option for the time. Keep me posted. I may wind up putting it into storage if I do not sell it.

The good thing is, I do not think it would be hard to convert it to manual!

That must be one of the early '79 urethane covers. For whatever reason, the quality of them deteriorates and they deform like that. Best to replace it with a newer one.

    Good luck with the sale.

I *think* it was built 10/78. I will have to check the door tag tomorrow.

I know the parts book has a "after 03/79" replaced part number which may coincide with when the crappier materials were replaced. IIRC, I think I had read that Ford was new to the urethane products and had the "recipe" wrong for the composition or something.

Regardless. Cool, unique car and pretty original from the looks.

Update: stripes on the trim are silver, and the build date is indeed 10/78. Anyone know when they started building the '79's? Guessing this is a fairly early build.

Production for the 1979 model year started in August 1978.

Can you post the build sheet, and the door tag, and the buck tag, and the owner card?

Don't think that I have the build sheet, I posted the window sticker, the owners card is in my filing cabinet in my office, and I'll try to get a picture of the buck tag (EDIT: Buck tag is folded behind the power steering line. I don't want to remove it at the moment as its parked outside and is quite cold/windy at the moment and my patience is low). I just snapped a picture of the door tag. Name: image.jpg

One of our 79's has an early Sept./78 build and I believe 79mustangcobra's car is an August '78 build.

Last chance; $1500.00. Listed it a few other places as well, but would really like to see it go to a good home. Have another project coming, so this one has to go to. I have it on ebay and craigslist. If it does not sell soon, I will have to store it, but it will be stored outdoors, and I would prefer to see it go to a new home where it can be cared for.

Yes, I listed it on there. Wasn't too happy about doing it. Lots of interest, but nobody has come to take a look at the car or had any firm interest.
