    Says sold already at $6200.

Would you buy a "rare" car from a seller whose name is "rrclone"?

Only 47 SVOs were painted this color between 1985 and 1986 making it the rarest color Svo. Only 4 of this car pictured are known to exist "hertz Svo". I would be surprised to know that it sold for $6200 to a stranger rather than a friend. If so it just goes to show the Svo is still an extremely underrated collector car.

Most of the Hertz SVOsvwere green. One detail that gives them away is the etched glass and wheels with the vin number.

Cool, so this was the only sage green hertz car, makes it even more of a great deal...I didn't see the auction, was it a buy it now or best offer?

It was a buy it now. I think it was only up for about 6 hours before it was bought.

There were 60 Hertz svo mustangs. 20 Houston, 20 Dallas, and 20 Atlanta. 10 of them were Green. The rest were different colors. Most were white. I can post a breakdown when I get home tonight.

Kendal, you did conform another 20? I forget, it's been a while, and I wasn't looking at the database when I replied above.

Yes, there were 40 consecutive vins that went to Texas. Then 20 more consecutive vins previous to those that went to Atlanta. I have confirmed it with Kevin Marti. Check your vins. They are also the last 85's before the 85.5' s started.

Thanks Kendal, good info. I figured you would know the details. I learn something every day about our hobby by paying attention to this forum.

Yep, I remembered they were the last "early" 1985s. I know we had discussed the additional 20 before the 40 but I didn't remember if you had confirmed they were Hertz.

It's a little faded but this came in with the package of paperwork etc. when I bought my Hertz. It shows 85 Mustang SVO and my VIN. The date sold is 3/22/86.

It's the only I've ever seen as well and helped make up my mind to buy it. I just wished they had used something a little more permanent than a purple ball point pen. I keep it sealed in an envelope to try and slow any more fading.

Here are the vin numbers of the Hertz cars. You can do a Marti Report on them if you want better verification. The Dallas and Houston cars have the vin etched on the windows, the Atlanta ones do not.

Sold for $6200? When I spoke to the owner on Friday he wanted $8500 and never mentioned e-bay. Rats.

This car was posted for sale over on SVOCA. The owner was having surgery and would not be able to drive the car so decided he needed to sell it. It was listed for $8100.

Yes, I spoke with Tony, wish he had given me the $6200 number. Missed a good opportunity for a rare SVO.

6200 is peanuts for a future classic!

This brought up some questions for me. Out of the 47 4E SVOs, there were 30 early 85, 4 85 1/2, and 13 86s. Of the 30 early 85s, 10 were for Hertz and there were no 86s? I had heard that on the 85 1/2s that one was cloth interior/ no sunroof. One was cloth interior w/ sunroof, one leather no sunroof and the one leather w/ sunroof. Is that still true? And these 4 were assembled on 7-31-85 and 8-1-85, the last days of the 85 model year? I had heard that these 4 were built and shown to Hertz in an attempt to get them to order more. Any truth to that? What week were the hertz models built?

I have heard the 85.5 green rumor but I have never seen any hard proof. Maybe someone else has. Looks like you have a nice collection of svo's.
