    Default My 84 convertible

Hello everyone I think I may have started a thread showing off my 84 but I can't find it lol my name's Hunter this is currently my 9th mustang and it's really growing on me. The guy I bought it from had it in his family for over 10 years his father n law owned it and then gave it to him for him and his son to build. They had it repainted and did the regular maintenance to keep it running but that was about it. I bought it 04/01/15 and I've done some exterior things to clean it up and keep it looking better. My plans are to fix then dent in the driver side quarter where his daughter hit the wall of the garage and I'd love to convert it over to carb cause I hate the C.F.I injection, I'll do my best to keep this updated with pictures as it goes along let me know what yall think!

Looks great with the white top and matching rocker stripe! Cobras look great too. I bet white Ponys would've looked nice.

    X2.

What is it about convertibles that makes white Pony wheels look so good?

White Ponys wouldn't be my first choice if I was building my ultimate notch or hatch, but they really set off a vert nicely, for some reason.

Thanks everyone! And I thought about the white ponies but when the offer for the Cobras came along I couldn't pass them up but my ultimate wheel option is a set of pony r wheels so you never know lol

Very, very nice. I would just cruise that and leave it alone. Looks fine like it is.

Mike (Walking-Tall) did it to his 86 vert and has a ton of documentation in his build thread. While his is the 3.8 V-6, I would imagine that the conversion might be close. Read his thread and maybe ask him some questions, as he might be able to help you through it if you are still interested.

You have a good looking car! Congrats and good luck with it!

Anytime! I think the carb conversion would help wake that car up a little. CFI wasn't very good in its infancy.

    Beautiful car!

And yes, even the installation of a simple Motorcraft two-barrel carburetor in place of the C(obbled)F(uel)I(njection) will make the car work and run night-and-day differently. Like Brock mentioned above, I converted my '86 3.8L V6 CFI to instead use a Holley 500cfm 2-barrel, and it has never worked better, and it also hasn't ever gotten the fuel mileage on a recent very long couple road trips of 32MPG average.

So you can install the two barrel on the factory cfi intake?

Yes you can. When Ford went to the CFI, they kinda went "backwards" with the intakes and used a 2 barrel carb intake.

I would imagine being a V-8, you would want closer to a 600 CFM carb for it but I might be wrong.
