    Default door weather stripping

    https://lmr.com/item/LRS-20708A/1979...y-Weatherstrip

I put this in last year and still my doors are a bitch to close right. Are they supposed to break in or do I have to adjust something?

I have the feel for closing the doors but my passengers never can

The striker is out of adjustment to catch the door latch

The door latch isn't adjustable due to the type of screws which are pan head or flathead if I recall they are pocketed or recessed so no fore/aft movement

The weatherstrip will break in but will take time

The quick fix is striker adjustment in my opinion but I had different doors and to pre set them for paint I mocked them up with new weather stripping and had new pins and bushings from LMR

Be prepared to open the door and close it for your best bud if not (haha)

^^^ Agree. Had to adjust the strikers a tiny bit on mine after installing new weatherstrip.

I also had to adjust the striker. But the door was still really hard to close. After awhile it does seem a little better though. I've only replaced the Drivers side so far because it was destroyed. My Passenger door still has a good seal and the door is like Butter. I'm waiting for it to fall apart before replace it. On the shelf it go's for now. I like my smooth Passenger door.

Your adding about 3/8 to 1/2 extra material to your old door and if your hinges are somewhat old and drop as you open the door and if your plastic piece is missing on your striker shank than its a compounded adjustment

Oreilly help section or probably any part store help section will have all of your pieces pins bushings striker plastic striker bolt etc

You will have fitment issues also because it's a NON OEM item it's a reproduced different durometer item but it's made as close to original I'm sure maybe off the same fooling too

My point isn't to debate that but it's a item that needs to adjust to accomodate the new thickness of the new moulding

The only part on the car that allows you to adjust is the striker but be warned you need a good quality star bit torx bit and sometimes that is quite the job to loosen and once you loosen it and move it (ever so slightly) it will have a area that will possibly have missing r chipped paint around the striker from the previous setting

So true about new seal being thicker. I also replaced my Stricker bushings when I installed, which did help a lot. My Driver door does need a new pin set though and drops ever so slightly when opened. But as far the LMR door seals go, I think they are great quality.

If your doors have been needing bushings for a while there is a oversized bushing/pin for the bigger oblong wallowed out hole

    Just a heads up

I used the non oversized hole style with the door check which the door check works really really well has a great feel to the door operation

I have T-TOP and not sure when if I need to order door weather stripping for hard top or convertible? What I really need is the exterior/interior weather stripping on top of doors.
