    Default 1979 Ghia v8 coupe

Looking at a 79 Ghia coupe with A/C and a V8. the engine is out of a 1988 GT 140000 miles or more with a 2bbl carb and intake. Auto trans with an 8.8 rear end. Looks like it could really use a paint job. Body is basically rust free, vaquero inside and out with fresh white upholstery. and factory hub caps. will try to get some pics to post, guy is wanting $8500.00.

He made the offer, I think he wants way too much for the car.

Good question. Other than to keep it "stock" but why upgrade to a newer (GT) motor or the 8.8?

Fresh white upholstery as it new reproduction seat fabric? I like the looks of white but shouldn't they have been vaquero too?

To me $8500 seems like way more than it's worth. Don't get me wrong, the car sounds real nice but to not insult the guy without seeing it, I'd say half that.

We bought our 79 blue Ghia 5.0 coupe shipped to the Canadian border for less than half the asking price a year and a half ago. Mind you we got a good deal from Fidel for it.

Good luck. Your PC is a real nice example.

I offered him just that, all it did was piss him off.

Unfortunately (for most of these cars), we never get out of them what we put into them. That must be what he's thinking but you have to start somewhere with a negotiation. He must have watched Barrett Jackson last week, but this car is nowhere in "like new" original condition.

Heck, for what it's worth, my '82 GT and '86 SVO were insurance appraised for "repalcement value" of $7500 and $8500 (Canadian) respectively two years ago. That was based off condition and percieved market value.

There have been some really nice original coupes in the FYI in recent months that had prices nearer what this guy was asking but IMO they were more original, untouched survivors.

I brought up that point, he said he had the original parts, the engine cylinder walls were out of round and to far gone to be of any use but, it came with the car.

He wanted to trade straight up for my PC, when I told him his car was only worth 4-5K he shot back that my PC was only worth 5k so it was an even swap.
When I saw the add on Craigslist i shot him a text, he offered the car to me sans wheels for $3500.00, I passed.
