Saw them on their 77 tour-my first concert. Can't say I really enjoyed it even tho I was a fan. Stadium. Gen admission. Lined up for hours. No food, water. Stood for hours on th field. I realised I much preferred smaller venues. Esp ones where you could drink. Have to say I don't think they have held up well. When the old vinyl comes out I never listen to ELP. Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Tull, Floyd for sure. But ELP, meh. I they were the archetype for spinal tap

I'm glad I got to see Tom Petty (with Joe Walsh opening) a few months back. It was the last big concert I've been to, and I'll always have a good memory of it. RIP Tom.

At 43 my taste of music will shock most and I believe drugs made the best music and made musicians were focused extra because it was from within the soul not from paper

Yep, I'm devastated with the news of his death. I was lucky enough to see them four times (1988 twice, 1991, and 1995). I've been hoping for new music since then and 2012's "A Different Kind of Truth" was a very powerful message for their comeback but it was never meant to be. I'm glad he got to enjoy his final 25 years with his son, brother, and wives - away from the spotlight (except for an occasional tour). RIP to the KING!

Lucky to have seen them live at Detroit's Cobo Arena 7/72. American Tour 1972.
Was at work, got a call from friend. GF sick, can't go to show, want to buy the tickets? 12.50 for two.
Did not need both, but easily sold one before the show at face value. The band was loud. Show was sold out both days.

Was a pt chain supermarket produce clerk. Had to leave work early. Had to make the show.
No calling the boss to cover. Said i should have.
Pulled the rack and stored in cooler per procedure at 10p closing, only this was done at 5?p, 2 hours into shift.
Boss next day asked where the F i was last nite and why i pulled all the green perishables early. Told story.
"Your lucky i am a RS fan..". He got me back one day later on. Never regretted decision. Vague memory of it.
Still have all the RS albums bought at Korvette's back then.

Did not want both tickets but deal was was both or nothing. Tight money.
Ha, wound up working for Ford Motor a year later. Make that kind of money in one hour.
"Can't always get what you want." 3/73-4/73 tried (filled apps) almost every day to work at Ford.
