Based on what it costs to build something like that I'd say $13k for that Capri race car is a pretty attractive price. Too bad I'm not rich as I've seen several turn key race cars at good prices lately.

Seems crazy you can get a turn key car that does 9s! on motor! for 13 grand! If I was looking to go racing, I'd buy that one in a heartbeat!!

I'm thinking it was clean.....until some idiot employee got in to pull it out and take those pics. Also, watching someone drive with that shifter is a trip.

I don't think they were still using those in '85. Probably CFI or possibly a Holley.

Those Lightning Rods shifters were supposed to be like what the Pro Stock cars, or something like that, had at the time. The 307 gets a bad rap, but at least it's a genuine Olds engine. If you could stroke it up to at least 325-330 cubic inches, it might be a better engine and better car. Mustangs were whooping up on those cars back in those days.

The 307 Olds is a good motor, same basic design as the Olds 350. Many of them went over 200k miles in full size cars. The 307 heads have tiny ports and valves for economy and low end torque. Thus they don't like to rev high because of the small ports and valves, but they do have good smooth cruising power and decent MPG. The later models had the rather advanced electronic mixture controled Rochester QuadraJet Carb.

Well if you ever feel up to the challenge, this company makes shifters that are similar in function. http://www.kilduffmachine.com/

They've got shifters for the following transmissions th350, th400, c4, c6, fmx, aod, aode, powerglide, 727, 904, a500, a518, a618, a818, 45RFE, 545RFE, 46re, 4R100, 48re. Looks to me like their list makes it possible for someone to put one of these into a 4-Eye.

Anything that's got the right "vibe" for Danny the Count oughta be good enough for Danny the Goofball.

Thanks for the link. It's pretty cool.
