Default My car's twin at BJ Scottsdale

I know BJ brings up a lot of controversy here, but is there any way to tell when a specific car runs across the block?

This car is a twin to mine option wise and I'd love to see it and the other foxes.

Those cars all sold on Sunday, and most of them for crazy money. This one sold for $18,700.

    1976 Duece Cobra $38,500
    1979 Cobra $19,800
    1982 GT $22,000
    1983 GT $33,000
1983 GT Vert $19,800 (NOT ORIGINAL, gaudy Dual Exhaust)
    1983 GT Vert $22,000
    1984 GT $18,700
    1984 GT350 $30,800
    1985 GT Vert $19,800
    1986 SVO $33,000
    1987 GT Vert $27,500
    1988 McLaren $27,500
    1989 GT $27,500
1990 Coupe $33,000 (NOT ORIGINAL, previous drag car)
    1990 7-up $24,200 (NOT ORIGINAL, Paxton SC)
1991 LX $26,950 (Believe this was a reported repaint car?)
    1992 GT Vert $44,000
    1993 White Feature $45,100 (NOT ORIGINAL....supercharger)
1993 LX Vert $53,900....this one was bullsh*t. It was about to hammer at $30k then they gave the mic to Dennis Collins to hype it up. If I was the bidder at $30k (although still stupid $$) I would be pissed!

If this is your specific question, I'm not sure there is a way to find out specifically when a car comes across the block. But if you study the schedule and do some math, you can get pretty close. They have a pace they have to roughly adhere to.

The other way is to register to be a phone bidder. A friend did this. He was telling me there is a ton of red tape (and costs) before hand. He did this successfully (or so he thought), which then means that he is supposed to get a call from the phone bank folks a few cars before the car in which he was interested was to be on the block. But he didn't get a call. He was going to inquire what happened, but I haven't heard from him since.

Thanks Jason for posting the results (which include the buyer's fees). Aside: I was watching some of the event Friday night with a non-car-guy friend. This was when there were $75k-$200K cars on the block. When one car sold I said "well BJ just made $20K in fees from that car." He was amazed.

My comments on the sales prices:

Yes some were crazy high, but I thought some were just "BJ high". Of course it is hard to judge without seeing the cars in person. I too was surprised at the number of cars which had significant mods, and that didn't seem to diminish the prices.

Default Obvious detail flaws should not be on real low mile cars

    Enjoyed the pics.
Never noticed 76 Mustang II (and others) had similar long door armrests as fox.
Some pics were good for a laugh as to showing on the 'high end' BJ stage.

'Common' fox Mustangs? Pics. Wait. What is this?
Traditionally, BJ money and vehicles changing hands are not from a real world most of us live in.
The eternally uncommon, rare then or now, expensive, or strange.
Most of our cars really do not belong there yet, if ever.
Suddenly appear to counteract the extreme 2.55mil Ford GT thing?.

    The Mustangs at Scottsdale:
-Low mile detail 'flaws' that should not be on a 'very low mile' car sold as such?
-How many miles do they really have on them?

-Everyday non ford aftermarket batteries. Come on at least put a Motorcraft in there if going BJ.
-Missing air cleaner to fender ducts. Why?
-Armor All-ed hoses. Looks tacky. The old auto reconditioning shop look. Especially on tires.
-Missing fog light covers. Hey these are low mile and well taken care of cars with all the docs but...
-Wrinkled seat covers. Factory ones are not. Nor are properly installed recovers.
-Alarm button on fender. There were more discrete areas for arm/disarm than drilling into a new fender.
-Added exposed wiring in engine compartment. At least use loam on them to disguise as factory.
-Missing dizzy rubber boots. Why take them off if not driven very much?.
    -Replacement ignition wires.
    -Wrong exhaust tailpipes.
-BBK brand aftermarket brace on a 300 mile car? On a car stored for investment?
-Added pace car rear spoiler on 79 Cobra. Lots of options but std interior.
-Large amount of aftermarket striping/GT sticker on the 82.
-Chrome door edge, wheel well arches, 82 rear window louvers slat count.
-Twisted alignment stripe on the 82's upper rad hose.
-82 has cut cable style battery terminal. But hey, has all the under hood factory paint marks.
-Twisted shifter knob on the 82. Pedals look worn.
-11,000? mile 82 missing vac hoses to a/c hot air door motors.
-Various plating variations in engine bays. Leave refreshing to the new owner.
    No doubt more unseen

Knowing our cars really shows what old car selling is/has been about.
These cars should be nearly perfect with untouched parts except for, say, batteries.
Sales pitch and descriptions only mention positive qualities, true or not.
Details can give hidden clues to the bigger picture of how the car was treated, owner savvy.
The serious collector, regular owner, or someone only in the game for money.

BJ show kind of pretends to be auctioning car show quality judged (by who?) level items.
No envy to anyone who spends big money there.
Just another mostly over priced car lot, on TV, with an auction format.
Show has to compromise some way to fill up hours of (over) paid TV.
Better than nothing and most programming nowadays. Is enjoying to watch.
    Have seen rare bargains..
