    Default Good Cam/Aluminum head combo?

I'm looking for a good flat tappet and aluminum head combo for my 84 GT. I'm putting on a Weiand 8020 intake manifold soon, but i was wondering what a good cam/head combo would be to break 300hp. I want to be able to run it on 91 octane and not be too hard on the valves, but i'd probably get better valves eventually so thats not my main concern right now. Is this asking for too much from a flat tappet? It seems like people are absolutely disgusted by any 302 thats not a roller. Let me know what you guys think!

Here's 1 option it has 9-1 compression and its matched which is the single most important ingredient

It's always hard to come up with the big stack of money to outright go this route and that's well understood but it's 1 of many options I bet

    Good luck

Those Edelbrock packages are pretty much full proof if you have the money....

Look at my signature for my previous build. I used an old set of Edelbrock performer heads with the 1.90 intake a got off ebay for about $500 bucks. Had about 9.5:1 compression. Used a flat tappet Lunati Cam, a performer rpm and a 650 holley dp. It went 109 mph in the 1/4 which equate to about 320hp in a 3100 lb car...

Heres the cam card.. One sweet little cam..

Get a set of these link bar roller lifters for your flat tappet block, some shorter pushrods and your good to go on running any roller cam you want. I've got a buddy running these in a 69 302 block that is a 331 and he turns it 7000rpm a lot with no problems after 2yrs of abuse. The best and baddest aluminum heads on the market now are the TrickFlow 190 11R's. Not cheap but they will make 350rwhp+ on a stock shorblock with the right cam all day. Another bonus running these heads is you can run a pretty big cam without PTV clearance. The price below is for one head at Summit.

i'm trying to stick with a flat tappet. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2091/applications i'm assuming this kit would work, but if it did, do you think i could even consider 91 octane?

I used it in an 83 block and all is well.... I think a flat tappet block is a flat tappet block period...
