Also, Mike, just out of curiosity ever seen the sign on highway 30 heading for Scappoose that says Shorty's Auto? That's where the car currently is and has been for a few months. Me and a buddy rent the shop and do side mechanic work out of there.

Hmm, no. Scappoose is normally a place that I just drive thru on my way to a good friend's in St. Helens who is storing my (stalled project) '54 Courier.

If that's an invite, I'd like to stop by.

Sure thing! Not a lot to see at the moment. My buddy found a pretty f-ed up cobra going through the auction Thursday. If it goes for under $2000 I may purchase it then sell the motor and trans to pay for it all. Then I will go the IRS route. It's an 01.
That courier is sweet! Want a 427 to shove under the hood?
Definitely a cool Courier. My grandpa had a 53 when he was a TV repairman.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

Hmmm. Till now, I thought the Courier was the little Mazda pick up from the '70s. I didn't realize Ford had used that name before.

With any luck (if the bidding doesn't skyrocket out of control) I'll be bringing this home Friday or Monday.
2001 Cobra. 81,xxx miles. The plan would be to sell the engine/ trans to recoup the price of te car. Then use the IRS and any other needed parts on the wagon. The last cobra that went out there wasn't even recognizable as a mustang and sold for almost $3500 but it had a KB Blower on it. I wish I still had a picture of the car. I didn't know what it was until I read the listing.
Well no cobra but I did buy 2 mustang parts cars. I hooked a battery up to the pictured one and instantly started kicking myself. It's got 339,xxx miles on it.....
It's an 01 GT
The other that I bought was a 1994 GT with 119,xxx miles on it. Don't have any pictures of it yet.
Well, the good news is that few Mustangs are ever taken care of to even reach close to that mileage. The previous owner/owners must have taken reasonably good care of it. May not be completely worn out.

That's true. Just wasn't expecting that many miles. I like the wheels on it enough I think I'm going to run foxbody a-arms in the front and the 94 rear end out back on the wagon so I can use them. I think they are Saleen wheels but not certain.
I can't see how 339,000 miles is good news in any scope . I don't know what you're planning on using off the car but it seems like anything is pretty far along towards being worn out
I'm right there with you. I'll be lucky to brake even parting it out. It does have some parts a I can use. It's got some Tokico HPs that look new, the front brakes look new, the clutch pedals, hydro boost, power steering lines. And some other little bits. I might be able to get $ 500 out of the engine and trans as a rebuild able core. The wheels are in amazing condition. The front tires are new, the rears are bald (imagine that)....
I had a friend buy it for me. I told him if he couldn't get the cobra under $2000 buy both the GTs. We had no way of knowing the milage on the 01. You just don't expect that many miles on one of these. A v6 car sure, but not usually a GT
I'd be workin on the crew cab truck in the garage in the original pictures posted in this thread by the OP.

"Fun to work on"..........You don't do body work then I'd guess?
I'd say that everything about fabbing a car, (especially when it's as different as you are making yours) is fun up until you are faced with a sea of body filler on every part of the car. Then it becomes a never ending monotony.
I'll gladly take over the engine/rear end swap for you on your car,...you start sanding on mine.
Body works not a problem for me, granted I'm still learning, but I do enjoy it. This is more fun for me because I've built a couple 4x4s and am kinda burnt out on it. Plus all I really had left of that cab after I found the extent of the rust was a pair of b-pillars, rear floors, and about half of the back of the cab. I pretty much would have had to build a cab which didn't seem worth it. Believe me it wasn't the body work that stopped me, because there is a bunch to do on the wagon.
Started ripping a Mustang apart and had to halfway throw some suspension under the wagon so I could move it.
Finally started to get the parts car ripped apart. Almost had all of the structure I needed cut off then ran out of Sawzall blades, so had to stop for the night. Won't be too long now and the wagon will be up on the rotisserie getting subframe connectors built and a nice paint job underneath.
Well I finished cutting the inner structure I needed off od the car. Now just a few more parts to pull and the poor marquis is gonna go to car heaven. If anybody needs or want any parts off this car just pay shipping and they are yours. I'd hate to scrap things people can use. It will be going to scrap next week some time so speak up.
Also looking for a vote to see if I should get some decals made up the say "Wagonator" in reference to fords code name for the 03/04 Cobras "Terminator"
Made some more progress tonight. Got the new section fired and tacked for now. I'm going to fit the header, hood, and fenders before I completely weld it intonplace. Should be able to do that in the next couple days.
I went ahead and removed the sway bar mount from the new chunk as I won't be using it anyways.
Then here it is fitted in place, feels good to be making progress again.
