I guess scour craigslist and post want ads. Maybe I'll stumble into a cheap LTD or something. The reason I say LTD is they seam to be more common. Its alright though. I can get all of that stuff towards the end anyways as I plan to paint it all off the car. I've got plenty to keep me entertained for now.

Well I jumped on the old interweb and found some local yards with front end parts for the wagon as well as a yard in Idaho that might have a good hatch just waiting for a quote on the price plus shipping.

I got most of the rest stripped out of the car to clean stuff up and get at the body damage easier. Plus I want to clean up the wiring and integrate the new computer and harness into it. Still need to remove the headliners so I can fix the roof. Im also going to try abd find a way to shove the 2001 EVAP coil into the wagons heater box. As far as I can tell the lines come out in roughly the same spot on the firewall.

    Here are some pics

Got some goodies as well. Got them off of Late Model Restoration. My buddy bought a set for his Mustang and I really liked them. Plus couldn't argue with $25 a side.

$250. Im gonna jerk the heads off of it and throw my B heads back on it. Then the plan is to try and sell it and make some money. Its a 99.

So I've been looking at different intake options for the past couple hours and have almost decided on a carbed sullivan and a MSD Mod-6 ignition box. It would end up around $1200 total and I have a carb already. I kinda like this idea for ease of install and a whole lot less wiring to mess with. My other thought was a Aviator or Cobra setup. In the end they both end up about the same cost wise I kinda like the carb idea though.

    Any thoughts?

I used the edelbrock version on my 2v, but for the sake of argument is still the same thing. The Mod-6 is cool, you have laptop control of your timing that is super easy to change should you decide to. In my case, the victor open plenum intake was supposed to be rpm rated far above my intended usage, but I never felt that I sacrificed any drive ability by using it. My only gripe was the wiring harness was preterminated, and that meant that there is a bunch of extra slop that has to be bundled. Eventually, I ended up relocating the computer under the dash, and cut and spliced the wires to fit.

I had an Aviator. So, you know, I think those are good... do that. Carbs are lame.

That was my third option. I was kinda avoiding it for now because I would have to buy it a peice at a time because every bit I need is atleast $300 it seems. Would be totaly kick ass though. I guess ill have to wait and see what happens when I finally pull the trigger. Atleast I have the heads now.

That thing looks killer all one color! A quick passing glance and you would think it was just some old school V8.

That is beautiful! Only thing I would've done differently would be to include enough blue on the engine, in order to assert that it's a Ford engine. If done subtly enough, the remaining orange would still tie in to the rest of the car well enough. I'm a Melvin like that, though...

And I think I want some more slack (and maybe a break-away joint with a check valve) on that fuel line, but I don't know all of the details.

That must be one serious show car. Did the guy buy it to drive?

It turned out really well. I posted the pic more to show how clean I was able to manage the wires once the mod 6 was out of the engine compartment.

The old school theme was what I was after. A close up inspection would see a dot an a letter between the numbers on the air cleaner lid though, to denote: 4.6 v 8. The valve covers are cast aluminum BBK's. And if you've only seen the outside of the red car, you're missing out on a really cool interior. ( ya gotta like red though)

Thanks for that, the guy that bought it does in fact drive it to the cruise ins at least. I myself put about 10k miles on it myself since the engine, and the engine compartment went through the rattle can facelift that is pictured. The " entire" engine compartment.
Thanks for the kudos guys, but this ain't my sand box. This thread is about a wagon. I just thought everybody had seen the whole car already.

Well I started ripping the ripping off of the Lincoln only to discover that there is no way in hell they are coming off without dropping the motor out of the car. Good news is so far they don't look bad, just dirty. We will have to get them off and make sure they arent warped too bad and that the chambers are good.

Ive also been flirting with the devil and looking at supercharger parts. Seeing how cheap I can do it I think that is the way to go. Plus ive been watch I videos thanks to a Lincoln that was posted and o my sound just wicked!

Made more progress on the head removal, there is more work into getting these stupid heads off in this cramped engine bay than I put into my whole Zephyr build it seems. Also decided not to save the Lincoln. Just gonna part it out.

Found the reason it was putting water in the oil. Apparently someone learned the hard way why your supposed to run antifreeze and not water, or maybe they didn't. I dont care, I ended up with some cheap heads because of it.

You can see why Ford were so heck bent on getting the 60 degree Yamaha V8 into the engine bay of the Taurus! Service is way harder than even an Explorer 4.0 v6 SOHC timing chain replacement. Even a spanner width of swing room is hours of gifted time on a front drive!

That 90 degree V8 had every thousandth shaved off the block and crank just to fit it in there! Its still the best OHC V8 Ford have ever made, so tough, an so much common stuff through the years! I'm not an OHC fan at all, but the Modular Romeo origin engine, oh my, how much Ford valued the customer, and how they gave us a Japanese Lexus/Infinity style V8 that is even better. Progress is truly wonderful!

I'm just moppin up the hound dag slobber now.

Well I finally put the zephyr inside on the lift to start ripping it apart and discovered the extent of the damage. It got everything on the passenger side including the motor mount. Also got the rack. So now its time to find another mustang GT parts car. I'll snap some pics tomorrow.

Progress has been slow recently. I've been working way too damn much. I finally managed to get the core support the rest of the way off. Also started buying engine parts. Those are a surprise that I should be able to start giving sneak peeks at next Wednesday. Any guesses??
