Thread: Fuel pump size

    Default Fuel pump size

So I am pretty sure my fuel pump is bad, I have a slightly modified 86 5.0. About two years ago i replace the factory pump with a BBK 255 LPH and now im having issues. I'm going to try to salvage it but if not ill just get a new one. My question is would running a higher output fuel pump result in any negative side effects? I would think that the pump would only supply the amount of fuel that the engine is demanding so therefore there is no such thing as to big. So im leaning towards another 255 LPH pump, maybe a different brand, or should i go smaller output? If anyone has information on this subject i would appreciate it.

a stocker will support minor mods, but I'm about to go with a 155 on a stock engine, and I've been told a 255 needs the adjustable regulator also.
