I have a parts store stock replacement '90 5.0L radiator and am using the stock hold downs. The radiator insists on sitting crooked in there though, and it drives me nuts.

Mine is about 2.5 '' thick. The ends are tapered on top so the mts have to be moved inboard about 3 '' from the original mt holes. I'll figure something out.
I grabbed a rad from advanced auto. It was listed as heavy duty for a 83 mustang. It is a 3 core with bigger tanks but junkyard supports off a mustang fit perfect. I'd say go get a pair from the salvage yard to see if they will work. Cheap alternative for trying them out.
5.0 that is what I have The top edge of the tank is tapered. I have to move futher inside to get a grip on the top of the tank. I think a few extra holes in the rad support won't hurt.
I wish there were salvage yards around.
I was looking for those hold downs that you are talking about, and our supposedly Mustang yard didn't have any Mustangs that old.

Thank the government for that. Incentives to get rid of old cars in some states and all the regulations and taxes on businesses such as junkyards. They have to keep rotating cars out to pay everything.
