Question 79 or 80 Ford Fairmont Sedan... should I get it?

    Hey everyone,

I've been looking at a few Ford Fairmont's on the net and there's a couple I've got my eye on, with one getting more attention than the other. It's a sedan. It's either a 79 or 80. The asking price is $800 as-is. It has a 3.3L inline 6 with 3-speed auto. No rust on the body although the paint is faded. It has a hub cap missing. The interior is in great shape. No cracks on the dash, nothing wrong with the carpet. The car runs and can be used as a daily driver.

Is this a good price for the car or should I pass?

    Thanks,
    Tommy

What are you going to use it for? As a daily without pics, I would say yes. Pics make the deal.
If we knew where you were located someone might know the car.

I'm going to use it as a daily driver and I was told it could be used as one. Here's a few pics...

Well those wheel covers aren't original, so that's no big deal. Seems a fair price to me though. Looks pretty good.

The wheel covers that's on the car... do you or anyone else know what car they would have come from? I'm asking because I like them and if I get the car, I'd like to get one to put on the left front where it's missing.

Sorry, I don't know. They do look kind of aftermarket though.

    Hey again!

Thought I'd give everyone an update. I bought the Fairmont (shown in pics in this thread) today! It was a car that had been in the family. For anyone who searches through Oodle and some of the car searches, it was the blue one at Morristown Ford in Morristown, Tennessee. I felt like it was a good car for what they were asking for it. This will be the first Ford branded car (Mom and Dad were always a Mercury family) since Dad's 1972 Ford Galaxie 500 coupe, affectionately nicknamed, "The Frog" because of its yellow green paint job with dark green paint on the roof of the car. The Galaxie had been bought new in '72 and was in the family until '96. Dad had been using it as a work car for 8-10 years. That car had 15,000 miles short of half a million miles on it!

Really looking forward to getting it here soon! :-D

Thanks to everyone on the forum who helped guide me to get it! Kudos!

That's true. Old Plymouth wheel covers. I'd buy that little car
