    Default Power steering hoses

Has anyone purchased. Power steering hoses from Rock Auto? I appear to have power steering fluid leaking from several places.

Haven you forgotten to install the O-rings by mistake ?

If the leaks are at the rack, then most likely you need to replace the Teflon O rings on the fittings. Some new lines do not include them and they are a necessity for sealing the hoses. You can pick them up at most Ford dealerships if your local parts store doesn't have them.

Here is another option too: http://www.maximummotorsports.com/Re...004-P1461.aspx

It is an 84 ltd lx with the original hoses and power steering pump. I have tried to tighten them. Based on the prices of the hoses I figured it was fairly cheap to replace them. I guess I could replace the o rings and see how that works.

I misunderstood your first post. I thought you were having issues with replacement hoses from Rock Auto.

If you hoses are original, then I would definitely consider replacing them with quality hoses. I haven't had any issues with all the parts I have purchased from Rock Auto, so I do recommend them if you find what you need there. Just keep in mind about the teflon O rings. As I stated some of the hoses include replacements with them and some do not.

    Good Luck!

The Teflon O-rings sourced from Ford would be best. Note that most new lines already include them, they are challenging to get over the threads (various routes to do so, search this board and others). A leak from the power steering pump shaft can go down the inside of the pulley (where you can't see it) and end up on the lines.

I need to clean everything up, then I can figure out where the leaks are.
