The original headliner I'm guessing was long gone in this car, but someone made one for it that might just need new fabric. The board they used is pretty crude and I'm sure it is nowhere near correct as it fits like arse, IIRC. It's been out of the car for almost 2 years now.

I would not touch that GT on the hood again until you get 99 points out of 100 at a show and you want that last point for perfection. It looks terrific. That is near impossible to notice and as mentioned above, you will likely be showing off the EFI at the show so the hood will be up anyway. It looks awesome.

I think I agree with you guys. It's not a concourse restoration and hell, it's not even being judged at the show. I'm probably the one who will notice it the most.

I'm going to leave well enough alone for now, as I have running issues with the motor/EFI that I really need to focus on and get worked out before then.

Still having running issues?? That's a serious bummer. Hope you get it worked out soon.

I'm pretty sure I'm making some headway in this operational issue as seen in this thread.

    http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...-Part-Throttle

It's been a long, slow process but I believe I'm getting damn close and I can say I'm learning a lot because of it. I just wish I had it happen and ironed out before the week I need to take it on a major road trip. I guess I have no one to blame but myself for not driving it more this spring and finding it out sooner.

    In other news.........
I have been on the lookout for tailpipes that would work with my 2 1/4" Dynomax super turbo mufflers without too much effort. What I did find was the Walker 45902 and 45903 were designed for the 2 1/4" Dynomax system so I took a chance and ordered them. $80 shipped seemed like a good deal for what I'm after at this point. I can't say that I'm in love with them as they are just aluminized steel and they don't have the nice polished tip look but........they fit amazingly well. I wanted something to get the exhaust out of the back of the car on a shoestring budget and in a short timeframe, so I believe these will fit the bill quite well.

I hope to have the tailpipes installed and have the front of the motor put back together tonight, so I can drive it around the next couple days and make any fine tuning adjustments that might be needed.

I've only got 3 days, counting today, to get this car ready for the drive to Kansas City.

    Good Luck Buddy!

I hope everything works out for you and the trip to Kansas City is uneventful!

Wish I could be there myself, but I am back down in TX working and may be headed to Alabama in the near future!

If I can get it back together tonight, that will give me 2 solid days (Weds and Thurs) to drive it to make sure it is fit for the trip.

I hope that I will not need any rescue services, but I appreciate it and might need your number.......just in case.

Got home and put the fan, belt, spark plugs and so forth back on the car.

Got the new Walker tailpipes put on and overall I'm happy with the fitment. I thought when I first mocked them up, I would need to do some modifications to the length of the passenger side pipe. Once I got everything in place and even out the back of the car, I realized that the placement of the add on pipe hanger was a bit too far forward causing the difference in tip length. Got that corrected and all in all they fit well and are leak free.

I really wish that they had the polished tips though.

I got done with that and reset the timing now that I know where TDC is and set it at 12 degrees. Nice clean idle, smooth power response and I didn't hear any indication of pinging or detonation. Got a call from my oldest, who is off in Lincoln for college, and he needs an I-Pad for one of his classes like literally NOW as its required for a class tomorrow.

Seemed like a good time to test out the car and find out what she is going to do. Grabbed the I-Pad and hopped in the car to make the 65 mile trip to Lincoln. Ran good, sounds ok as the new tailpipes changed the tone and loudness a bit and I couldn't detect any abnormal noises.

134 mile round trip was successful, which gives me hope.

Thanks! You are correct about that! It will be in the less than fun beater Ranger.

It was kinda fun rolling up on campus in the car. Got a lot of thumbs ups from the kids. Made an old guy (by college kid standards) feel cool again!

After getting used to the exhaust dumping out in front of the rear axle, I was a bit surprised when I fired it up after putting the pipes on. At first I wasn't sure it was running as it was significantly quieter than before. I bet my neighbors were relieved this morning at 5 when I started it and didn't rattle the windows.
It sounds like a stang when using the gas pedal though.

Besides blatant paranoia running rampant during the trip, thinking every noise in this tin can jalopy was the end of the motor, it went well. I need to relax.
