Default 1980s Whistler Spectrum remote radar detector

This was on my 84 GT when I bought the car 4 yrs ago. I removed it and will include all cables, which appear to be complete, though you will need to splice them. Overall condition appears to be very good. This looks like what came on some ASC McLarens.

I can't remember if the head unit worked and I did not mark + and - leads, so I don't want to try and test and damage it. But if you are sure about the correct connections at the circuit board, I'll trace the leads and test it for you. (I assume the detecting capabilities are obsolete, but you might want to see the head unit illuminate.)

I'm looking for $50, shipped in lower 48. Items are in Houston, TX.

That is what was used on the ASC/McLarens. Here is a wiring diagram:

Not sure how helpful it will be to figure out which wire is the + and which is the - as it looks like the connector on the end was color coded. I have not taken one apart to see the circuit board to tell.

fascat, thanks for that schematic. The issue is that I snipped the power + and - wires during removal (I didn't want to take the dash apart to remove the wires in one piece) and there are now two black, small gauge wires coming out the head unit with no external way to tell which is which. However, someone with a complete unit, or detailed knowledge of the circuit board which can be accessed by removal of a few screws, should be able to figure it out.

    Sale pending to another member.

No problem. I checked mine and noticed the wires were the same color. I was afraid to take mine apart to trace the wires as it works now and didn't want to risk it not working after putting it back together. Glad you have a sale pending.
