Default 1979 Light Medium Blue 5.0 Ghia Coupe Marti Report

I got a shipping discount when I got two Marti reports so I got this car done also. What a great idea for birthday gifts for the two boys to go along with their cars.

I bought this car from STANGMAN116 and imported it to Canada last year.

    Fidel's initial intro thread: http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...979-ghia-coupe
    For Sale thread: http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...ang-ghia-coupe
Our show and tell thread: http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...other-79-Coupe!

According to Marti, out of 56351 1979 Ghia coupes, 2489 (4.4%) were 3F Light Medium Blue. Out of the 56351 1979 Ghia coupes only 129 had this paint/trim code (0.2%). I kind of wished they would not have seperated out the Ghia stats from the rest just for comparison.

Both of our '79 San Jose coupes had the build sheet stuffed under the springs on the driver's seat. This one did not get exposed to mice in it's life at least!

I think that came in 83-84. Body color is right for a 79 Ghia.

I bet your Elite Report will show a much lower paint/trim number because it'll breakdown production by body type as well. Blue leather buckets... why don't car companies give us options anymore? ("You want tan or gray..." boring!!!)

This car seems to have every option for the year, probably had a big MSRP for '79. Ok, just in case FoxChassis is reading this it may (or may not) have had heavy duty battery, protection group or other minor options, but it has just about everything else...even Leather!

It's probably pretty pricey to produce a low demand option. Although I must say when I was picking out my 14 I came across a dark blue metallic gt with fricken pumpkin orange leather inside. Blew my mind. I'd seen red but that orange was too weird.

Thanks for sharing your Marti report and build sheet.

I was looking at the build sheet and was going to say 'it didn't have power brakes like the Marti report says it did', until I noticed the spring codes didn't look right. Then I saw the problem....After column 19 on line E every code has been printed one column too many to the right.

The front spring catchword is MIZ (1st MM on door tag) and the rear spring code catchword is PEV (2nd MM).

I didn't even catch that, that's a surprise. I have absolutely loved this color combination since I saw it on a 79 2.8 V6 hatchback a guy drove to my high school. He totaled it and I later bought it for parts, but I have wanted on in this combo since.

    Default Elite Marti report

Here you go Fidel. Like the Tangerine coupe, this elite was given to son #2 for a Christmas present.

Here are some pictures of it:

She was a pricey little car for the day.

For comparison with our Tangerine coupe (this one was built 10 months later so the conversion probably changed slighty) but this would have been almost $2700 US more!

Turns out to be a one of one when broken down. Less than 1% of Ghia coupes had this paint and 0.07% had the paint code and leather interior. Interesting also that almost 91% of the 5.0's Ghia's had the automatic C4 with it. I suppose Ghia luxury demanded it

The 1 of 1 isn't surprising when you break down everything like Marti did. It's a beautiful car, I just would rather have a 4-speed. Otherwise it's freakin perfect!

    Default Buck Tag

Got at the buck tag recently to post up.

It has quite a bit of paint on it and even got undercoating way up there!
