    Default Car Show Sign Idea

Got extra wheels laying around? Need an idea for a show sign? Get your sign printed as a poster and frame, or printed as a foam-board. Then take a trip to Menards and get the following parts.

    Plumbing Dept:

    (1) 2" Schedule 80 Flange Mount....it has a 4-hole pattern that is perfect for bolting to the lug holes!
    (1) 2' section of 2" PVC
    (1) 2" PVC 45* Elbow
    (1) 2" to 1.5" generic "bowl trap" shower drain.
    (1) piece of 1/2" pipe insulator

Then some spray paint of whatever color you fancy, (4) 3" bolts that are 1/2"-13 pitch with nuts and ( washers, and some Gorilla Glue for reverse mounting the shower drain to the back of your poster board.

All told, about $30 in goods.....and presto...your sign is off the ground so it is easily readable, and protected from being blown/knocked over And it all comes apart for transporting in the trunk/hatch.

I'm on my way back to get two more of each part so I can do the same with a TRX and 10-hole wheel on my '82 and '85

Sweet idea! I am going to do this but I might try using a center cap. I guess it could make tear down a little more difficult.

Be sure to mask off the PCV pipe and fittings where they will join together....or putting the pieces together and pulling them apart is quite difficult. I learned the hard way and had to go back and sand off some paint.

Ok i'm on my way to make one of these. I went to a local Staples store and had a 24 x 18 poster made $41.00, with some images and some info about my 1979 cobra. (proof read before they print it. i had one word wrong! it should read front facing scoop, say rear OOPS) Now I am going to go to Home Depot to get some supplies. and I need to un-mount one of my tires off a rim to make the stand. here is a picture of my poster.
    Thanks for your hard work.

That's awesome! I suppose a cobra as nice as yours needs a equally wicked display sign, and I think you nailed it.
    Cheers!

Thanks...I now have 3 of these for my Foxes, and one for my '05 Saleen. Only problem is the spare 20" Saleen wheel pretty much swallows up the trunk!!

That stand idea is amazing btw.

Ah Mike...my garage and cars have had their fair share of exposure in here for several years. No memorabilia so to speak, just an extensive hat collection (both sides of the support beam, and plenty of posters on the wall. Below is a look of all my Four Eyes lined up back when I still had the '83 GT that I resurrected. My '82 is a TRX car, just had the 14" on at that point to get a feel for how they looked. Sold the '83 (and kept the TRX's) back in 2012 to a fellow member. Also a pic of what hibernation season looks like, and of course the most important tool in the garage....the BEER FRIDGE!

Now that's what I'm talking about. Both yours and your buddy's Saleens are amazing! The other foxes are great too, but in a Saleen guy at heart.

Yeah, that's a bad a** car right there, but I love your Saleen as well. IMO Saleen hasn't made a car I wouldn't be proud to own. All of them are awesome, I just have a soft spot for the foxes.
    Cheers!

Why yes it is :-) A buddy of mine brews and does a DAMN FINE job! He makes a killer IPA for me. $50 for a 5-gallon batch of tasty IPA is alright in my book

Got my sign done thanks for great idea.
I used an old brake rotor for portability and I used fusion plastic paint.

Thats cool man! I may have to adopt that brake rotor idea too for portability. Went to my first show this past weekend and realized the 16" chrome pony wheel does NOT fit in the trunk, so it will have to ride in the back seat.
