    Default remove pinstripping

Anybody have suggestions for removing the pinstripping from the rubber body trim? I tried a heat gun but it started melting the trim. I want the stripping off so I can repaint the trim and re pin stripe it,

The original factory pinstripes are painted onto the molding (unless someone has added tape stripes). You'll have to paint over them with the black and then re-do the pinstripes.

I was going to say that it may be easiest to just lightly sand and paint over them too. The raised portion after will give you a good guide to follow for the new stripes (plus you would never see it)!

The pinstripes in the side moldings are molded right in and cannot be removed. On the front and rear bumpers, they're painted on. When I had my molding done, the body guy simply cleaned them and re-sprayed them with satin Black bumper paint. I was then able to re-stripe them on my own. It's actually pretty cool that they're molded in because I was able to use them as a guide for the pinstripes to make them straight as an arrow.

I just sanded every molding down, and both bumper moldings, and painted them black. I did not apply any pinstripe to them afterwards. I like the look of the all-black molding better than with the pinstripes.
