Default How To Repair a Washer Fluid Reservoir

Any recommendations on the proper adhesive to reattach the black plastic cover to my windshield washer/coolant overflow reservoir? My first thought was to go the silicone route, however if that doesn’t work, silicone can be a b**ch to remove. I was told automotive GOOP might work, but I've never used the stuff before. So if anyone has successfully done this repair before, I’d be interested to know what you used. Thanks.

I used hot melt glue and it seems to work pretty well. I laid a good heavy bead all around the rim in the lid then pressed the reservoir body into it. You do have to work fast and you need a larger glue gun that can produce the volume of glue you need in a hurry. the little mini hobby ones would not melt the glue sticks fast enough.

I kind of liked mine loose. Much easier to top of the fluid level in the overflow.

If common sense was common wouldn't it just be sense?

I like to remove the cover every now and then to scrub the compartments out.
They collect junk on the bottom and sides.
RTV or hot melt will work.
I think i have a trim screw holding mine secure. Been so long..
