What about physical evidence like trim or headliner ? Thanks again Foxchassis!

Things like trim and headliner would all be added (or should be added for a nice finished look) in a non-factory conversion so you really need the codes or a Marti Report to be 100% certain.
    Cheers!

So no unique physical evidence like spotwelds , roof brace , or supports that would be unique to the coupe verses the hatchback?

I have heard, but never confirmed it myself, that factory optioned sunroof and T-roof cars had vinyl headliner and solid roof cars had cloth headliner.

Just to add to what Foxchassis said, the only conversion for t-tops for the fox body mustangs was made by Car and Concepts so erverything is the same wheather you got it from Ford (who sent it to Cars and Concepts) or it was done by a local body shop. Same parts.

The internal roof bracing is different from a notch to a hatch. The hatch piece is shorter and won't reach the rear window structure in a notch.

I thought that as well Foxchassis. Yes KCoker I fully understand the Cars and Concepts handled the conversions for Ford ,but a lot of people are converting notches to Ttops from hatches. Also to elaborate on the Cars & Concepts conversions if they were not optioned by Ford they have a extra door tag with "Modified by Cars and Concepts(all 85-86s). TravisT that is what thought looking at the bracing for the coupes.

A guy in my town just did this to his 88 coupe using an 88 GT hatchback parts car. I helped him put a few rivets in the frame and the hatch frame definitely did not reach all the way back to the rear window structure.

my friend Robs 81 has vinyl, but not certain that proves a T top option, pretty sure the Tr code 86 parts car I had was cloth.

if there is no buck or door tag then the best thing to do if you want to be 100% sure is get marti report. ford never built foxbody t-roof cars or verts. they were all done after. so its easy to duplicate. I am building an 81 t-top coupe now. I have the buck tag, but got a marti report anyway. the price is cheap.
