Capri buck tag hood/vent/scoop codes

I have not been paying attention to the various types of hoods available on the Capri throughout the years. Or more specifically, which hoods got vents and or a "scoop", and what type of scoop it was, and also if the hood had a hole under the scoop. I may have figured out which models/engines got which buck tag codes (see list at bottom of this post) but I still don't know what the hood/vents/scoops looked like for each and which had a hole under the scoop. I would like to know so I can properly decode the hood code on the buck tag.

EDIT: Looks like all Capri hoods had color-keyed vents? Also looks like there was a "scoop" and a "bulge"? The scoop (1979+?) sat behind the vents. The bulge (1980+?) surrounded the vents.

What I would like from you Capri owners is:

1) year, model, and engine
2) if hood has scoop or bulge or neither
3) hood code on buck tag
4) if hood has hole under scoop/bulge

Hood has opening under scoop, which I believe was required for air cleaner clearance on the turbo models.

In the 1980 brochure they only ever show the bulge type hood, but mine came with the scoop type. Possibly because it wasn't an RS although it had all the RS mechanicals? Since it had the turbo, they had to throw on something to cover the hood opening? I've always wondered why it had that scoop for a 1980. It didn't come with a rear spoiler either.

FYI, all 1979-86 Capri's hood vents were painted the same color as the main body(color coded?).
a few very early 1985 ASC McLaren Coupes had the vents removed and 2 "cup" style pieces put in. these were only on a few early 85's ASC stopped installing them because they held water.

FYI, all 1979-86 Capri's hood vents were painted the same color as the main body(color coded?).

My 83L's vents were black. I've owned the car since 89 and I doubt the PO did anything to the car.

83 CC capri 5.0 5 spd, 02 hood code, no scoop or bulge, vents painted body color, I think the CC's needed the "bulge"

This Capri was at the local PnP, they listed it as an 81. Had just the vents in the hood and they were painted body colour (white)

Original scoop was body color swapped it out with this black one I had.



The hood has the factory cut out for the turbo engine.
