    Default Completing My Fox Dreams!

Never thought the day would come, but on this 51st Birthday of our beloved Mustang - my third and final Dream Fox is becoming a reality

In 1987 my first car was a 1982 Capris RS, and my first boss had a 1982 Mustang GT with less than 10k miles. I told him I would buy it some day. It was my first Dream Fox that I longed for. After 21 years of contact and persistence - I brought it home in September of 2008.

In 1991 I sold the Capri for a 1985 GT with t-tops, and that lasted about 3 years. Then in 1994 while helping my brother move into his first house I spotted a black beauty across the street and stopped what I was doing. I introduced myself and claimed I would buy it some day. That '85 GT was my second Dream Fox. After 15 years of contact and persistence, I brought it home in July of 2009.

In 1993 when the Yellow Summer Feature was introduced, I claimed I would own one some day. I never really found the car to "chase" for years on end, but it was my third Dream Fox regardless. I had three stipulations....had to be yellow, had to be black trim/chrome wheels and had to have three pedals. In 2013 I stumbled across an incredible example at an MCA National in Indianapolis. It was yellow and black, so next up was a quick glance under the hood...and there it was, the obvious clutch pedal! With only 2,400 miles on the clock I introduced myself to the owner and said I wanted the car should he ever sell. Less than two years later he called, and the deal was made today. She'll be coming home on Monday afternoon.

Never thought any of these three dreams would come true, let alone all three of them. Feeling quite lucky to be able to pull it off, and all from original owners.....all that lived within 20 minutes of me their entire lives

I always liked those when they came out, with the black interior of course. Congratulations! I'd want to drive that one though.

    First, Happy Birthday!

Congratulations! I judged that exact car at the MCA show in Indy when I met you and saw your sharp 82 GT!

We had to deduct for the non-factory silver stripes in the body moldings. Beautiful car though!

She'll get cruised locally for shows and such just like my '82 & '85 do for sure. Nothing crazy, but they do rack up a whopping ~100 miles a year or so

When I was a senior in high school, the local Ford dealership had one of those in the showroom along with one of the triple white summer editions. This one was by far the much better looking of the two.

You are right, my bad today is 4-17!

That is a beautiful car but we had to deduct for the non-factory silver stripes in the body moldings.

He told me about that...said the judge was a real jerk. JUST KIDDING!! He said he always got deducted for it and expected it. Me personally, I will probably go over them with black, as removal will probably be a PITA, and the silver doesn't contrast with anything on the car. Not a huge fan of the "Mono Chrome" look on the 93's so it doesn't bother me.

I'll put on a set of halo headrests as well....and see if you can spot the "mod" like you couldn't on my '82 that day

I've always loved that car, in the exact same configuration as you..black top and interior with a stick shift. Congrats on the purchase, it looks like you got one of the best in the country.
    Cheers!

Good call on the black stripe. For me, I never could stand the molded in stripe or lettering when they weren't a contrasting color. This coming from a guy who hasn't done anything with the lettering on is 2004 GT's bumper in the last eight years.

Thanks man...back at ya! Since I'll need a second set of wheels & tires for any driving duty....seeing your car on 17" Ponies REALLY has me considering those for this car...if though I know it won't be correct. Tough decision.....

    Thanks!!

A set of chrome 17" Pony R's would be amazing looking on her. I say do it & save the OEM's for 'other' use.
I'm pretty confident that you won't be disappointed.

Did you have to do any lowering for the look I see on your car, or is that stock suspension?

I have BBK 'specific rate' lowering springs. Lowered the car about 1 1/2".

I like the idea of the 17" pony r's as well. Was planning to go that route on a 1993 triple white vert I used to own (pony r's powder coated white) just so I could run the ZR45 tires.
