Default 78 fairmont 27 roadster, dragster and 65 cyclone

This is my project car, posted by one of out friendly members. Thanks Brad.

I hope to keep pics coming on this.

Car came with a title and 29k miles. Was originally a 4 cyl, 4 speed, no a/c, no power brakes, but power steering, and plain bumpers.
This made it desirable to me.Very similar to my first Z car in 83. I like the grill and taillights of the Zephyr. This one already has the tail lights.

My plans ,5 lug ,Aerostar axles,3.27 8,8 and 5 lug ft. I hope to find a donor car 90-93 must, for the eng and trans.I would like to stay EFI, but have parts in the room for other. Body work will be minimal, 2 stage lt silver on the top, and a darker shade on the bottom.

Waiting to move a Falcon convertible out off the shop.
    Thanks for all the ideas.

Sweet! And just think, now you don't have to dispose of a stupid boat anchor straight 6 (since you bought the car as a roller)!

It was a 4 cyl originally. Bumpers ,taillights all removed .
Tomorrow I hope to paint inside the trunk area. first a coat of rustoleum, then a mixture of water based house paint and 1 lb of micro balloons. This is for sound deadening, then a layer of strip and peal roofing repair. Then indoor outdoor carpet.
Next week will be the inside of the car as well as doors. It makes a difference.

The ranger ft brakes are installed, the r/e is out waiting on after market control arms. Wheels painted and vacation around the corner.
New pics around the 25of the mo. Will be rolling.
40P heads in shop and picked up this coming week. Next problem is going to be headers.
Will ck the forums and see what everyone is doing about the P heads.

I use the FRPP headers. Way nicer than Mac, for sure.

I like it. Especially that hood. You could make it like a Thunderbolt. Paint it white and run some steelies and dog-dish hub caps. All business!

Are those Mustang II/Pinto slots up front? 13"s? They're a decent looking rim. They would work if you were building a hardcore Southern California low-rider with the pumps and switches and whatever...
Slots were a popular alternative to Cragers, back in the days.

GG they are pinto wheels and nice. The car had centerlines on it when I bought it. Not wanting them, Joey did these wheels as I was towing on a dolly back home.
The 'Bolt and Falcon/Comet Inspired this build. Not being able to afford those cars, this is as close as you can get to them.
Thanks for info on the headers.

Love it! Like the stance if you can keep it that way would be cool. Too bad you don't live closer, I have engines coming out my ears.

Wow hope I'm still doing what you are at your age. Sad thing is I'm only 40 and feel that way already. I'm about to retire from 20 plus years in the military, in the past year and a half I have had four major surgical procedures. One was just yesterday, had a torn ACL and knee issues. Have a good one. Love the old tear drop hood by the was, lightweight old factory look.

Well it's almost 10 days since my last post. Lots of water under the bridge.
I have the r/e partially installed ,under hood painted.
Eng is ready to have the heads, cam, pan, and ft cover installed. Tomorrow that happens, minus the cam.I'm waiting on that.
I have 98 mustang ft brakes,c/c plates waiting to be installed.
Going to get it running first with the ranger rotors on ft. I need a left side aerostar backing plate .2 right side aero axles don't make a complete set up. Didn't think about that at the time.
The man that takes my pics will be out of town till next w/e. My painter will be out for 3 weeks. All plans can get rearranged.
    Later,
    jim

Well after two horrible days the 8.8 is in. Still need to tighten up all the nuts, install the brake line and the c clips.

Hard on old knees crawling around on the concrete. Get it done while you are young so you won't have to like I'm doing.

It does look good with the 265 65 15 rear tires.

Pics when my friend gets back next week. Eng should be in wed,or thurs, waiting on the
    cam.

    This morning work.
Found a Aerostar last week that had the left side backing plate.
It took me almost an hour to get it jacked up and the c clip out then the backing plate off.
Too much rolling around in the dirt.
Now to get on with all the other work.
My picture taker is in Bar Harbor Maine now, so it willl be a bit before any pics.

Brad I've read most of your threads, and find you amazing.
You have taken a old car and done a great job with it.

If you do ever sell your car ,someone will get a great buy.
I think we have way more in time and effort than we could ever recovery.

Thank you! That's very kind of you to say!

I'd have a pretty hard time selling it. Eh, who am I kidding, I'm ready to drive the thing off a cliff about half the summer. Seriously though, I don't know what I'd do with myself if I didn't have it. And yeah, we've gone waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy beyond what we could ever recover in time spent.
