I had replaced my original some time back. I was pleased with how it looked after I had painted and installed it. The installation went without a hitch. Since the original wasn't broken, I just stored it and thought I'd repaint it and keep it for awhile. Well, anyway...I had to open the hood for the first time since I replaced the grille. There was a little bit of resistance when I was raising the hood. I checked underneath for anything causing it, so when I thought there was no issue, I kept going until I heard a cracking sound. By then the hood was open, so when I looked outside, the plastic on the passenger side was broken with the mounting screws in place.
I never had a clue that there was a clearance issue after I installed the grille. I even rechecked how it was installed...again no issue. I guess I'm glad I kept the original, cause I'll be repainting it and putting it back on the car this weekend! You just never know sometimes, eh?
