Fenders are Repops from National Parts Depot.
I had to do some minor work to make them fit perfect, but now they fit great.
I have Three original fenders in good shape, but by the time I strip them, prime them and prep them a $65.00 repop seems like a deal.
The originals are a little heavier so I guess I'll throw them in the attic and hang on to them.
I used NOS full 1/4 panels and certainly don't regret that. Used Sherman Rocker panels, but i wouldn't use those again.
The Sherman floor pans were very good, but kind of pricey compared to some that are out now.
I used a NOS front fender apron (from Green Sales) in the battery area. You just can't beat NOS. If you can get NOS it's always worth the cost.
Everything Else was fabricated by hand.

Wow man, you're doing an outstanding job on the Cobra! I feel guilty for never having to start with anything with that much rust. I understand you bought this car new? That's crazy cool. Keep up the great work and keep the updates coming. Let us know if there's anything you need from the southland.

Yes Fearnot, I bought it new in April 1979.
As for parts, The only thing I have been looking for is a Pace Car hood.
I am planning on putting a 351W with a dual plane intake in it, and I don't believe it will fit under the cobra hood.
I'm not sure so I am looking into what will work.

Cool thread to follow for sure! You've got your work cut out for you but with the skills you've already showed off, there's no doubt in my mind that you'll reach the finish line. As an original owner, do you have any pic's of it from when you bought it?

I'm sure I have some photos from the old days.
If I come across some I will try to post a few.
This could take a while because they would all be old film photos.

"At Roy O'Brien Ford in St. Clair Shores Mi."

Bought mine there too. Dunno if it made the showroom. Said it was a demo (had 24k on it).
First sight they were washing it outside at the used car garage, morning of July 8, 1980.
A long solo test drive sold me on it. Never get tired of driving it.
Keeping a car so long enables one to monitor and manage repairs over a longer period of time.

I remember they didn't want to sell me the floor model.
They wanted me to take one off the lot.
I told them to order me one just like it.
Instead of ordering me one, they gave in and sold me the floor model.

    Keep the pics coming.
Need them for the same future body repairs here.
Viewing under the skin structure parts helps a lot.
As does successful thorough repair procedures.

Size: 82.2 KBI have many more pics gr79 I will help supply the ones you need.
Just ask when you need them.
I am currently getting ready for paint.
Prepping the garage to convert it into a paint booth.
I am going to paint a lot of the pieces off the car, to help control some of the over spray.
I went up in the garage attic and pulled out the front and rear bumper covers so I could paint them when the time comes.
I was a little worried what the heat and cold may have done to them.
The front cover looked ok. I had a NOS one up there in a box that I bought back in 2006.
The box was tattered when I got it down.
I was surprised, when I opened the box it still looked perfect .
The rear cover is deformed and needs to be replaced. I think it was pretty bad when I put it up there.
So now I have to find a good 79 rear bumper cover. I have been looking all over the place. looked on CL but have not been able to locate one yet.
If anyone has a leed on one it would be appreciated.

How is the rear deformed? These rear bumper covers are getting harder and harder to find. I have a "new" one for my car but it needs a lot of work.

I gave Regals U Pull a call and they said they have one in decent condition for $55.00.
I'll head over to that side of town tomorrow morning and pull it off.
Thanks for the tip Adam. I really appreciate it. This saves me hours of Craigs List BS.
The old one was not only deformed it had a 3" tear in the right lower corner.
The metal support piece is completely rusted out as well.
When are they finally going to start making some of these older bumper covers and rubber stick on moldings.
Us 4 o-o ed guys need parts too.

I can't believe how many fixable bumpers I threw away in the past because you could still buy them new for reasonable prices. Makes me sick. For $55 if it is good you just scored a great deal.
