Great to see you will be coming down o the Fox-A-Que
I agree The Ferry makes the Trip less Traffic Intensive. Also 95 Thru CT has far too many sections that are like the surface of the Moon ! !
Drive up to MU this past April really gave the Koni's a workout !!
Kyle and I will be there with the SVO & TC
Look forward to catching up again !

Anyone want to meet Tim (Seventm1) and myself for the morning ferry in New London? Would be cool to get a few of us on together. I know Joe and Rock have done the Ferry. Two and a half hours on the Throggs Neck Bridge was enough for me for a lifetime. I only don't mind bridges if I am cruising at a decent speed.

Paul:
Have taken the Orient Point / New London ferry many, many times - Including 8 Straight BSA Summer Camp Trips to RI !
Very easy and beats the heck out of coming down I - 95 !
And less wear and tear on your ride !
About an Hour ride across the Sound.
In my opinion absolutely worth the money.
Glad that you are coming !

Ed, thanks so much for the feedback on the ferry. Sure is worth it to avoid coming down I-95 lol and nice to relax too! I just googled it and about 1hr 35min to Bethpage from Orient Point. So the cars are on the lower level closed in on the ferry? I am so glad I will be able to attend this and can't wait!

The Cross Sound Ferry is a nice way to get to the event. The other big bonus is that if you come Sat AM - you are heading from OP to Bethpage and the majority of the traffic is heading the other way. So it makes the drive that much easier....
The day I went, there were 2 different sized ferry's. Both were enclosed where the cars are parked:
1979 Indy Pace Car Mustang 302 / 5spd
1982 Mustang GT T-Top 302 / 4spd
1986 SVO Mustang - 1C
Paul:
To Doug's point:
You will be coming early in the day and should have little traffic ( just dealing with the North Forks Two Lane Blacktop for slightly less than 20 miles - Farm and Wine Country a nice ride ) figure about just an hour from the time you roll off the Ferry till you arrive at Bethpage St Park.
Doug's Ferry Pics of his ragtop are neat !
Doug Very neat shots of your Ragtop !

Ed, I believe Doug is coming from NJ this year. And to Esco's point, I do believe Domingo is not far away.
A bunch of people have asked me about this event via email, text, FB and also at Carlisle (as I was there for only one day unfortunately this year and sans cars) and just wanted I had hit a stretch the last several months where my health has been a little below average for a few reasons.
It had me really considering whether or not to keep the event on schedule, postpone or cancel it. The event will go on and it is July 11th.
Anyone coming from the ferry east, is welcome to stop for coffee and bagels at my house (PM me for address/directions).
Looking forward to seeing everyone and hope everyone has been doing well!
Paul, I'd like to meet you and Tim to go on the ferry if that's o.k. I'm hoping to get my 306 back in and running this Saturday. Once it's done, I plan to drive it as much as possible over the next 3 to 4 weeks to work the kinks out. Otherwise, I won't feel comfortable going that far with no miles on it. I'll let you know how I'm progressing after this weekend.

I haven't decided yet whether to take the ferry or drive. Got an e-mail from Cross Sound Ferry and their rates are $55 one way. Last time I got the 7:00 a.m. ferry and didn't get to Bethpage until around 10:30.
If I drive I'm taking the Merritt Parkway instead of I-95. The Merritt doesn't have any truck traffic and drops you on the Hutchinson River Parkway. I took the Merritt on the way back from North Carolina last week and aside from a 15-mile back up caused by people gawking at a van parked on the shoulder, it was a good trip.
Rock - Good Choice for the Drive Option .
Ed - My mistake on the "Doug" quote -
Meant Joe-Really screwed up that whole series. Didn't I ??
Rushing to catch up on E-Mail while between ( delayed ) flights in the Airport club never comes out well.
Saw Doug's message - Just had a Serial Brain Fade episode -
Particularly after a less than comfortable connecting flight from the coast with Several Unhappy Babies , and I had my BOSE NC 's on along with the FC Upgrade.
Call me if you need help with Setting Up -
I'LL PM contact Number

Ed, thank you for all your hard work putting this together. Really looking forward to it to see everyone. It is going to be a great time that is for sure.
Pete, I was hoping you would say that you would like to meet up. That sounds great and hope your 306 is up and running good this weekend and you get to put some miles on it. I can honestly say that after doing first four BBQ's, I have really missed the last couple years and doing the Ferry this year is really going to make the trip a lot more relaxing. Sitting in a lot of traffic and on a bridge for three hours I might add, really was the only thing that kept me away.
