I just came across this on instagram this morning, it looks great!. As a person planning on getting my car caged, is this a kit or custom and do you have any sort of dash in this?

Custom made cage. This car already had one in it. I still have to build the dash, I just need to decide on what I want it to look like. I will built it next

"Radiator position has changed" I don't understand this comment?

I am ok with the simplicity of the old dash, just did not like how it sat sideways in the car. The guy that built it is a real big guy, he did that so it was easier to get in and out of.

He is another pic of it

Hah, um, just another BATty Dean saying. Sorry

When you got it, it had the radiator in the cabin. I was kinda worried that'd be the next thing....I've seen people do that in race cars before.

I like stripped down, practically dashless Foxes...

There was another turbo version with dual intercoolers in Hugh MacInnes 1984 version of Turbocharging book listed as the GTX Ford Mustang BDA 1700.

It had twin Mack intercoolers at the front.

Man, I love the heat exchanger and radiator repositioning crazy Engineers like Zakspeed and DJR Racing...putting oil coolers under the back seat floor, or in the rear gaurds, or whatever. The Foxes, they did it all. Your car is hommage to that era.

An M81 Cosworth with even more alterations

    jeremyp's

I love how cool the pure SCCA car had become.

I just wish they made the 5.0 EFi versions go as hard as the 5.0 HO 4-BBL versions did.

You know the SD EFi can really make big horspower, but in Europe and Australia, Ford USA wasn't able to help getting the 86 model year Mustang into a competive international condition like General Motors did with the 5 liter V8 Holden Commodore. GM might have had an AMA racing ban still in place, but Ford just had to sign off the EFi, and it would have been legal before October 1985.

From Australian Muscle Car interviewing Aussie racer Dick Johnson

Carburated, the destroked 304 cubic inch Commodore SS had 469 hp at 6700 rpm in 1986, before it got almost 500 hp with the Twin throttle Body Port EFi engine, but it wasn't untill 1990 that it got that kind of horsepower. Fords 5.0 started off at 268hp with non standard Chev rockers, down 60 hp from Zakspeeds claimed 328 hp. It ended up with 350 hp net in 1986 after the roller cam and intake manifold cut and slice,

to a claimed 390 hp net at the years end for the Anderson Bros Pine Pack cars. To be 100 hp down on the GM Holden was all due to the intake manifold and cam limits. Even lofted, a roller cam is unable to make the peak lift numbers a flat tapped can.

Anyway, may the EECIV screw the asphalt!..

Your sure found a special little car...

Started with poster board templates to figure out the fit, then built it up from .040 aluminum. The gauge panel is .080. I kept the original heater and defrost ducts so made sure to fit the dash around those. I added the round vents that feed in from the original air vents at the cowl.

Very nice. I may borrow some of the design ideas . I have searched a ton for ideas. I'm really thinking of a dash all the way across. I would like to be able to tuck the PCM under the passenger side. Ill probably make a middle section that points toward me.

I like how crazy the roll cage looks in a hatch, especailly with the fuel tank partition.

14 gauge does good for covering up the fire wall and making it look like a real Fox again.

If you like the look and don't want to do all the fab work, then here is a dash option from Scott Fab.

This would most likely be my choice if I can ever get around to running my RR in NASA AI or even HPDE.

Looks like I need to post more pictures, I've progressed a little bit since the gaping hole in the floor!

I'm torn on what to do for a dash. I like the stock dash look but i need to clear roll cage so I don't think a stock dash would work.
I also am considering putting AC in this as I can drive to work and not be sweating through my shirt.
I'm considering robbing the hvac system from an 87-93 mustang as it probably won't be as brittle as the one I pulled out of mine was lol.
Also I really like how the control box looks...

Take the off the shelf Scott Fab dash, and modify to suit.

Use any kind of US avaiable denser, non Jute, but Black Fire Resistant Fabric to avoid sunstrike, and have it attached by non adhesive means, such as the scoloped top and the dash insert.

    http://www.globaltextiles.com/tradel...refigh....html

Copy the looks of the Maserati Kyalami, but just don't use adhesive so its 100% fire proof, sound resistant, and sun strike resistant. That way, you'll be able to man handle it without damage if you are doing modifications. Scott Fab deserve industry support because its been tooled up, and looks HDA (hot damn awesome....!)
