Welcome to FEP! Sounds like a good score. I'm not sure where you're at, but around here running and driving rough 87-93 v8 cars can be had for around a grand. Id say you're best bet is to find a wrecked or rough, running car with a roller 302 and a t5 that's complete. I've done several swaps this way and usually make most of my money back after I sell the left over parts. Good luck with it and post up some pics when you can.

I am going to pick it up Friday. I was going to build a drag car. It needs front floor pans and paint. I have a junkyard close that has 3-4 mustangs

    Hello
What would it take to put a 351w in? My buddy has one in stock that I can get a deal on.
    Thanks

You need a different flywheel. 351W is 28 ounce imbalance, and the '81 and later 302/50 is 50 ounce imbalance.
So a '79 5.0 flywheel will work with your '83 clutch, but you really want one which is machined for the larger '86 and later clutch.

    Any pics of the car?

96 and up V8 Explorers will have roller 5.0 engines and GT40 heads. They can be had for $400 or less for a complete engine at local Pull-A-Part junk yards.

    Thanks

No they are not. Seats changed several times over the years and several options were available, but the fronts will all interchange. The back seat on a hatchback went from one piece in 83 to a split rear seat in 84. In 1990, the way the seat mounts to the floor changed. You can use a split rear seat, but you'll have to add brackets to make it work.

Just a pilot bearing, and the flywheel, bellhousing and clutch setup for a five speed.

No, they changed a few times in that period.

What do you mean by this? Are you wondering if they look the same, or if they will bolt in? 79-2004 seats will all bolt in, of course they differ in appearance. The 83 GT (Sport) seats are harder to find than the 84-86 GT (Sport) seats. If you are building a drag car, why not just find some 87-93 Sport seats??? They are more plentiful... Either way, good luck!

LS swaps are the hair implants of the car world. Sure the owner is proud, but everyone else is laughing.

Can you take a picture of what you have now? If you have the standard front buckets, they were the same from 82-93, the "LX" style lowbacks, but interior colors were frequently changed. There were variations depending on year and options, but they will all pretty much interchange. Where you will run into issues is the back seat, but they can be overcome fairly easily.

I'd go with any of the 84 1/2 to 93 sport seats then.

You'll just need the brackets that bolt down to the floor in the center of the seat (actually hinges) and you'll have to drill holes for them.

Thanks you have been very helpful I am new to all the fox body stuff. I have other vintage fords but nothing from 80s. I have another question, I have a chance to buy most interior from a 90 hatch for a really good price. How much of it will be interchangeable

About all of it. The dash would be a lot of work because it will involve wiring changes. The rear quarter panels will work but will have to be trimmed to fit the rear windows and the seatbelt anchor hole will have to be plugged and a new one cut.
